Possessing one of the strongest raiding teams in Pro Kabaddi League, Telugu Titans roots from Hyderabad, Telangana. The squad play their home matches at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, an arena with the capacity to hold about 5000 viewers.


Telugu Titans have been a part of The Pro Kabaddi League since its genesis in 2014. The team that grew with Pro Kabaddi League along in years is presently mentored by Naveen Kumar, who was a raider in his playing days and a member of the Gold Medal winning Indian team in the 2006 Asiad. He marks his first PKL assignment as the team’s coach in PKL 2018.


Background


Hyderabad based Telugu Titans is currently owned by Veera Sports led by Srinivas Sreeramaneni (also Co-founder and chairman of Core Green group) and backed by Mahesh Kolli of Core Green group, Anil Kumar of Greenko group and Gautham Reddy of NED Group.


The team show their spirit of unity coloured in yellow, black and purple with their catch phrase for the year that goes as “Together we are one”. 


Trajectory in the PKL


With five years of experience from the PKL 2014, Telugu Titans boast of their exceptionally strong raiding department. They have been inconsistent in PKL though, having finished in the fifth position thrice and making the playoffs twice.


For the PKL 2014 season held, Telugu Titans finished fifth in the group stage and did not qualify to the playoffs. In the PKL 2015, Titans ranked third place and qualified to the playoffs. In Season 3 which took place in January of 2016, they finished in the fifth position, failing to quality for the playoffs.


The team finished fourth in the June edition of the 2016 PKL season. In the fifth season held in 2017, the team came down to the fifth position.


Major Players for the PKL 2018


The Titans have matched their final bid placed to retain Rahul Chaudhari who was the captain of previous seasons and the highest raid point scorer in PKL history with 482 raid points. They retained him for Rs. 1.29 crore. Abozar Mohajermighani, another Kabaddi giant was also taken in by the franchise for Rs. 76 Lakhs.


The present team is yet to decide on the position of captaincy but the team’s decision to retain Rahul Chaudhari is promising for the raiding department. They have assembled on the most expensive squads in PKL this season.


Another big signing for the Titans is the Iranian defender Abozar Mighani. A number of new faces have also been added with raider likes of Kamal Singh, Ankit Beniwal and Anand who were picked up from Future Kabaddi Heroes programme. The new team could be called, a mix of youth and experience.
