Colombo Kings won by 24 runs

It's fair to say that the Galle Gladiators put up a brave fight because the sheer magnitude of the total put up by the Colombo Kings can unsettle the greatest of batting line-ups. The game wasn't as one-sided as the scoreboard suggests, but in games like these, it's always the end result that matters. Even though the batters gave a flying start to their side, the over by Priyanjan proved to be the major catalyst to squarely put the game in King's favor.

Danushka Gunathilaka (30 of 15) was quite impressive with his knock. Even though his strike rate hovered around the 200 mark, it wasn't enough in today's game. Afridi and Azam Khan provided some fireworks in the last moments but the game had already fallen out of their favor by then.

On the bowling front, it was Priyanjan who bowled an insanely economical over by giving away just a single run and nabbing a vital wicket. Udana also bowled well as he gave 33 runs off his 2 overs, which may seem very high, but was fine in a game like this. The game result can also be summed up as Russel defeated the Gladiators by 3 runs!!!

Colombo Kings have now reached the top of the points table with 2 victories in as many games, while the Galle Gladiators are toiling at the bottom with 2 losses in as many games. There are enough games in the league to ensure a major turn-round for the Gladiators but for that, they must ensure their bowlers don't give away so many runs in the coming games.

So that was the end of the coverage of today's game. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for the latest news and more match commentaries from games all across the globe. This is my colleague, Balashankar, and I, Arpit Shrivastava signing off. Stay fresh!

4.6 Qais Ahmed to Azam Khan, SIX! Khan finishes it off in style, even though there is no impact on the result! Flatter delivery on the stumps this time, Khan pulls it over the cow corner for a maximum
4.5 Qais Ahmed to Azam Khan, FOUR! Poor fielding! Well flighted delivery, Khan dances down and tries to have a go, but he is deceived by the flight and ends up getting the top edge, but Udana makes a mess of it at long-off conceding a boundary
4.4 Qais Ahmed to Azam Khan, length ball on the stumps, goes for the sweep but misses and gets hit on the pads. The umpire reckons it is sliding down the leg
4.3 Qais Ahmed to Shahid Afridi, OUT! Floats it up outside the off-stump, Afridi gets deceived and tries to drag it to the on-side, ends up top-edging it to the fielder at short third man
4.2 Qais Ahmed to Shahid Afridi, gives it air and bowls it on a length outside the off-stump, Afridi goes for the slog sweep across the line but makes no connection
4.1 Qais Ahmed to Dhanushka Gunathilaka, slightly quicker ball on a length, he goes for the drag across the line and gets the inside edge which goes to deep backward square leg
It has now seemingly become impossible for the Gladiators to come up victorious in the game. The momentum given by Priyanjan to his side has virtually dismantled the confidence of the opponents. Afridi is still some playing some of his signature shots but it's clearly a little too less and too late. It's 51-2 after 4 overs.
3.6 Isuru Udana to Shahid Afridi, FOUR! Low full toss on the off-stump, he walks across and flicks it through the square leg region. There is no fielder at the fence and it goes for another boundary. But fours are not going to win it for them now!
3.5 Isuru Udana to Shahid Afridi, FOUR! Full ball outside the off-stump, he slices it towards the point boundary. The fielder at deep backward point is way too square and has no chance getting to that
3.4 Isuru Udana to Shahid Afridi, full delivery just outside the off-stump almost yorking the batsman, moves in late and beats the inside edge of Afridi
3.3 Isuru Udana to Shahid Afridi, FOUR! Full delivery outside the off-stump, he waits for the ball and directs it between the fielders at short third man and backward point
3.3 Isuru Udana to Shahid Afridi, slower ball on a length moving away from the batsman, it was flirting with the tramline and umpire takes his time before calling it a wide
3.2 Isuru Udana to Dhanushka Gunathilaka, full ball on the off-stump, no room for the batsman to get under that one, gets it off the inside half of the bat to sweeper cover for a single
3.1 Isuru Udana to Dhanushka Gunathilaka, full and wide outside the off-stump, tries to move away and go for the ramp shot but gets no connection this time. The keeper can't collect it cleanly, but no run in the end
Priyanjan too has risen up to the occasion by bowling a very economical, wicket-taking over to further solidify his team's control in the game. The batters are struggling to find the gaps and their groove against the crafty spinner. Just 3 of that incredible over as the scoreboard has crawled to 37-2. Just some magnificent bowling by the youngster.
2.6 Ashan Priyanjan to Hazratullah Zazai, OUT! The batsman moves away, the bowler follows him down the leg-side, he goes down and tries to slog it over square leg but mistimes it straight to the fielder at deep square leg. What an over from Priyanjan, turned the match on its head!
2.5 Ashan Priyanjan to Hazratullah Zazai, tries to dance down the wicket but gets deceived in the flight and gets wrapped on the stumps
2.4 Ashan Priyanjan to Dhanushka Gunathilaka, slightly short of a length on the off-stump, he tries to make some room and go big but flat bats it to long-off
2.3 Ashan Priyanjan to Dhanushka Gunathilaka, flighted ball, much tighter on the batsman this time, he tries to go down on one knee and go over square leg but still no connection
