That will be all from this 5 over shoot out in Cardiff. This is Dwaipayan Mukherjee, signing off alongside Sourabh Agarwal. We will see you soon!
Aiden Markram, South Africa Captain : The way things unfolded, we did have to keep up and the next thing we know while being in the pavilion is that we are out there. It does feel like madness, it was swinging quite a bit out there and we wanted a couple of our guys to have cameos which happened to us with Brevis and Donovan. Keshav was going to play today but he tweaked his groin during warm up before the game today and Bosch has delivered again for us. Marco has been out of cricket for a while and to see him to come and run in the way he did, utilise the conditions was heartening to see. Our opening duo is truly world class, can put any batting group under pressure.
Harry Brook, England Captain : Can't read into that game too much, there was so much happening. It just did not happen for us. We need to perform when the opportunity comes through. Luke Wood always gets his wickets in the initial overs and he is such an asset for any team
Donovan Ferreira is the Player of The Match, here is what he has to say : Having an impact in the shortened game was truly satisfying. I was not thinking a lot about the short boundaries and my plan was to keep expressing myself by hitting straight which has always been an area of strength in my game. To perform under an environment where the coach gives me a lot of freedom has been key.
10:20PM Local Time, 02:50AM IST: South Africa (97 for 5 from 7.5 overs) defeat England (54 for 5 from 5 overs) by 14 runs (DLS Method)
Jos Buttler - 25 (11) | Marco Jansen - 2/18 Sam Curran - 10* (3) | Corbin Bosch - 2/21
South Africa take the lead in the series! After more than a couple of hours' delay in the start of the match, we finally got to witness some action and the visitors have done well to keep their calm in this 5-over thriller. Kwena Maphaka did not have to move as the first ball of the chase came straight down his throat at the fine leg boundary as Phil Salt picked him up cleanly in an utterly bizarre manner of getting out.
Buttler got his side back on track after the early setback, using one of his super strengths to pick up boundaries off Rabada. Marco Jansen seemed to be leaking runs as well but he was able to account for Jacob Bethell. Harry Brook tried it all during his 4 ball stay in the middle but he was sent back without troubling the scorers to become birthday boy Corbin Bosch's first scalp of the truncated affair.
Marco Jansen's 2nd over saw him getting tonked out of the park by Jos Buttler but he was able to keep the batters at bay, largely. Jansen also had the last laugh, dismissing Buttler in the last ball of the penultimate over of the game. Any hopes for an English resurgence were quashed early when Bosch picked up Banton in the first ball of the final over. Aiden Markram will be happy with the efforts of his boys in this series opener.

4.6 Corbin Bosch to Will Jacks, finally lands one right in the blockhole and Jacks squeezes that out to cover for a single to end the game which was heavily affected by rain. South Africa win by 14 runs!
4.5 Corbin Bosch to Sam Curran, another low full toss at the stumps, Curran can only smack that along the ground to long-on for one.
4.4 Corbin Bosch to Will Jacks, low full toss, there was Jacks' opportunity but he mistimes that to long-on for just a single. Should be South Africa's win
4.3 Corbin Bosch to Sam Curran, another one in the slot but Curran skies it this time and it is DROPPED by Williams around the cover region. Went really high and Williams could not gather it. The throw is not collected cleanly by Rickelton and that results in a third run
4.2 Corbin Bosch to Sam Curran, THAT HAS GONE MANY A MILE, Curran got a wicket with his first ball and now he has sent one out of the park with the bat off the first pill. Right in the slot and Curran left nothing behind in the tank, over the sight screen and away.
Sam Curran batting at 7th position
Tom Banton has been dismissed for 5 runs off 5 balls
4.1 Corbin Bosch to Tom Banton, ANOTHER ONE GOES, this is brilliant from South Africa and England are going down rather tamely. Was a low full toss around the legs, looked to whip across on the leg side but could only get a leading edge which was taken at mid-off.
Will Jacks batting at 6th position

Jos Buttler has been dismissed for 25 runs off 11 balls
3.6 Marco Jansen to Jos Buttler, FEATHERED THROUGH TO THE KEEPER, that should be the game for South Africa right there. Buttler is devastated as he throws away his bat. Angling across on a length and Buttler with the wrong option, looks to drag it across on the leg side and in fact gets a faint little inside edge through to the keeper. Jansen with a brilliant over.
3.6 Marco Jansen to Jos Buttler, goes for the sharp bumper and that had some great carry on it, sailed over Buttler's head though and called a WIDE
3.5 Marco Jansen to Tom Banton, really slow this time, into the pitch angling away from Banton, he waits and works that square on the leg side. The fielders are packed on the leg side and by the time cover gets to it, they scamper back for three.
