Despite a better showing from the hosts, India notch-up another comfortable win to go 2-0 up in this 5-match series. The best part was that tonight they did it even though the senior batters had an off-day. They will go to The Oval with their spirits high. For England, there is plenty to ponder and not much time. The third T20I is scheduled for Friday, July 4th and will be a 'do or die' for them.
On that note, it is time for us — Darpan Tikiya and Bidipto Datta — to sign off. We hope that you enjoyed the coverage as much as we did bringing it to you. Until next time, goodbye!
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women captain): "It is a good win for us. The way the entire team performed today was very good to see. The way Jemimah and Amanjot batted gave us the platform to set it up for the final overs. The way they executed was very special. They calculated their innings well. When the boundaries were not coming, they were looking for twos. With the big boundaries here, you should always look for twos. We are not exactly looking at the World Cup right now. Our focus is on this series. Spin is our strength and we want to back it."
Natalie Sciver-Brunt (England Women captain): "We did not really execute out plans as well and then later on with the bat, we could not build partnerships. We should have adapted better. There were some positives, Lauren Bell being one. Haven't really thought about things too much about the selection, but we'll see how it goes. Tammy and Amy showed us the way, but we needed more such stands. Tammy has been in brilliant form in domestic cricket, and even though number four is different for her, she has taken the opportunity with both hands. We will take confidence from this game."
Amanjot Kaur (Player of the Match, 63* off 40 balls & 1/28): "Yes, very happy to pick up this award! Injuries are part of the game now, so, we are ready for that now. But I had no pressure of the comeback. I had time to plan things out, I worked things out nicely. Jemimah Rodrigues played a quite impressive innings! It was a good partnership indeed. The bowlers bowled very well, it was a decent wicket to bat on."

Despite a rough start about three hours ago, India have ended the night with a comprehensive win to their name. The hosts put up a better fight than what we saw at Nottingham a couple of days ago. But alas, it wasn't enough.
It was a sprightly partnership between Jemimah Rodrigues and Amanjot Kaur that set it up for the visitors. The duo came together when the team was in a spot of bother. Having put into bat, India lost the wickets of Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Harmanpreet Kaur within the powerplay with not much on the board. A lot of it was due to some good bowling from the England seamers coupled with some wonderful fielding as well. Both Lauren Bell and Lauren Filer bowled impressive opening spells and also took a drool-worthy catch each.
But then, the Rodrigues-Kaur pair rescued the ship. They started off being watchful, expectedly so. But it was not too long before they switched things up. Post the halfway mark, we started seeing a lot more shots being played. Most were expansive and unfurled with flamboyance. To top it all, was the lively running between the wickets that ensured that England could not build any pressure. Those two effervescent knock, coupled with Richa Ghosh's exuberant cameo at the back end helped India scored 117/1 in the final 10 overs, taking the score from 64/3 at halfway to 181/4 at the end of the 20th.
England's batting innings followed a similar script for the large part. They too lost three wickets within the powerplay and then had a pugnacious partnership for the 4th wicket. Tammy Beaumont starred with a half-century, while Amy Jones played the perfect foil. In fact, at the halfway stage in the run chase, the hosts were ahead of where India were. But then, it was a top class piece of fielding from Sneh Rana in the 12th over that turned it around. The all-rounder made a diving stop at backward point before sending down a flat throw at the bowler's end that found Beaumont half a foot short of the crease.
Then, a double-wicket over from Shree Charani sent the remaining two recognised batters back in the hut. What followed next were mere formalities. Sophie Ecclestone did entertain the crowd with her 23-ball-35, but she was always fighting a lost battle.

Sophie Ecclestone has been dismissed for 35 runs off 23 balls
19.6 Deepti Sharma to Sophie Ecclestone, RUN OUT TO FINISH! Full and slow on off-stump. Ecclestone moved across and chips it around to deep mid-wicket. They take one, try to come back for two and in the end, it turns out to be a suicidal attempt as Ecclestone is way short of her crease when Richa whips the bails off! India Women win it rather easily in the end!
19.5 Deepti Sharma to Sophie Ecclestone, yorker on leg-stump this time. All Ecclestone could do is dig it out to short cover point.
19.4 Deepti Sharma to Emily Arlott, good length and attacking the feet of the batter as she steps out. Spanked down to wide long-on for a single.
19.3 Deepti Sharma to Emily Arlott, FOUR RUNS! Another full toss on leg-stump. Pulled away to the right of deep mid-wicket for another boundary here!
19.2 Deepti Sharma to Sophie Ecclestone, full toss on leg-stump. Swung around off the cue end to the fielder at short fine for a single.
19.2 Deepti Sharma to Sophie Ecclestone, WIDE down the leg-side now. Ecclestone moves across too much and misses the sweep.
19.1 Deepti Sharma to Emily Arlott, round the wicket, good length and slow on middle-and-off. Pulled to deep mid-wicket off the back foot for one.
Only going through the motions now. 34 runs to win off the final over. Surely, Deepti Sharma [3-0-21-0] is not conceding that many.
