The trophy is theirs, and so is the moment. The Indian team soaks it all in. Trophy in hand, grins wide, and the cameras clicking away. Not an easy feat, this. Touring England, taking on a strong home side, and coming out 3-2 on top? That’s special.
They had their hurdles, but they stood up. And tonight, they sign off with history. The ODIs are up next, but for now, that’s a wrap from the T20Is. From Meeth Agrawal and Sourabh Agrawal, thank you for joining us on this rollercoaster. Good Night!
Tammy Beaumont (England Women captain): "Been a difficult series but full credit to India for playing challenging cricket. They have got a lot of power in their line-up, we did not have answers sometimes. Proud of the girls tonight, very glad we got the win. For me it has been about staying calm, to be fair to Shafali Verma it was an excellent innings. Everytime we tried to do something she was hitting boundaries. I thought Charlie was excellent and we showed our character though. There has been a lot said about our fielding and athleticism, it is not something that gets fixed in one day but we are working behind the scenes. Hopefully we will get a perfect game. We know how dangerous Sophia and Danny can be, they really got us ahead in the run chase. It got a bit tighter than we would've liked in the end but we got over the line. I've enjoyed it (the captaincy) but hopefully Nat (Sciver-Brunt) can come and take over so I can sleep better."
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women Captain): It's a great achievement for all of us. Even today's match was very close. It was a great effort from the team for the way we fought back. I think whenever Smriti and Shafali are batting, we love watching them dominate other teams. That is something positive for us. A lot of credit goes to the training. We had some quality camps before this tour. We always aim to have at least six bowling options, and I’m genuinely pleased with how our bowlers have stepped up. Personally, we love the ODI format, and no matter where we go, the support from Indian fans is always incredible.
Shree Charani has been awarded the Player of the Series for taking 10 wickets. Here's what she had to say, "I enjoyed a lot playing in England. Felt great playing at every venue. I think I just bowled to my strengths. The team looked really strong throughout."
Charlie Dean has been awarded with the Player of the Match for her 3/23, here's what she said:
"We got a couple of early wickets but the Indian girls batted really well. I tried to keep it simple which I think was not doing in earlier. Shafali created a lot of width and played really well. She is a class player and I know the match-up against off spin is very expensive, anytime I can get her out is really special. The girls showed a lot of character to pull of a win like this, proud of it. Never in doubt, always cool as a cucumber (towards the end)."
09:45 PM Local Time, 02:15 AM IST: England win by 5 wickets.
Danielle Wyatt-Hodge - 56 (37) | Charlotte Dean - 3/23 Shafali Verma - 75 (41) | Deepti Sharma - 2/31
WHAT. A. GAME. Edgbaston has delivered an absolute thriller to wrap up this series!
England pull off their highest successful run chase in T20Is at home, but not without a final-over drama fest. The chase looked under control for the most part. Wyatt, Dunkley, and Beaumont laid a strong platform, but the finish? Pure chaos.
Needing just 6 off the last over, Tammy Beaumont, well set, falls on the very first ball to a full toss. Nerves creep in. Then Amy Jones holes out to a stunning catch by Radha Yadav at long-off. Suddenly, it’s 1 needed off 1, and chaos at the non-striker’s end as Smriti Mandhana fumbles a run-out chance. England sneak home, but India take the series 3-2. A wild, emotional finish to what’s been a cracking series.
India fought hard to post 167/7, and it was largely set up by a power-packed knock from Shafali Verma. With Smriti and Jemimah gone early, the pressure was on, but Shafali played with freedom and intent, racing to a 23-ball fifty and eventually scoring 75 off 41. After her dismissal, the innings wobbled again, but Richa Ghosh, along with some useful contributions from Arundhati Reddy and Radha Yadav, ensured India finished with a respectable total. On a surface where 150 looked tricky at one point, it was a good recovery.
Charlotte Dean and Sophie Ecclestone were the pick of the bowlers, pulling things back with tight spells through the middle overs.
The chase? It was England all the way for most parts. Sophia Dunkley and Danielle Wyatt-Hodge came out with clear intent and didn’t let the Indian bowlers settle. The pair put on 101 for the first wicket, and for a while, it looked like England would wrap it up with several balls to spare. Wyatt, on her 300th international appearance, marked the occasion with a composed and classy fifty, timing her sweeps, manipulating the field, and keeping the scoreboard ticking.
But then came a twist. Radha Yadav, the most disciplined of India’s bowlers tonight, broke the stand, getting Dunkley caught right after the century opening stand. And just like that, Wyatt followed. A small window opened for India, and they began to squeeze through.
Tammy Beaumont, though, showed her experience, moving across the crease, rotating strike smartly, and finding the occasional boundary to keep things under control. England looked like they were strolling to a win again, but India kept themselves in it, despite a few fielding lapses, including two dropped catches from Shree Charani, both of which could’ve shifted momentum.
Then came the final over. 6 needed off 6. And surprisingly, it was Arundhati Reddy, who had been expensive earlier, handed the ball.
First ball, Tammy Beaumont departs trying to go big on a full toss. Next few balls, Amy Jones falls, courtesy a stunning take by Radha Yadav.
And suddenly, from 6 off 6, it was 1 off 1. A simple tap and run scenario, but even that came with drama. A slight misfield, a rushed throw, and Smriti Mandhana misses the run-out chance at the non-striker’s end.
England sneak through by the barest of margins, pulling off their highest successful T20I run chase on home soil.
But the series? That belongs to India, who take it 3-2, scripting a historic first-ever T20I series win in England. A rollercoaster of a game, and a fitting end to a cracking contest between two quality sides.

19.6 Arundhati Reddy to Paige Scholfield, Smriti Mandhana misses an underarm to the stumps and ENGLAND WIN. Unreal scenes at Edgbaston where it has gone all down to the wire but in the end England have prevailed. It was almost a yorker from Reddy, squeezed to mid-on where Mandhana was in close. She collected it and from very close failed to hit the stumps on her underarm throw. Ecclestone would have been comfortably short had it hit but as it turns out it is England who take the victory in this match. That means India win this 5-match series with a margin of 3-2.
19.5 Arundhati Reddy to Paige Scholfield, full outside off, Schofield jams it out to cover and the Indian skipper makes a good stop to keep that to one. Scores are level and England need 1 off the final ball.
19.4 Arundhati Reddy to Sophie Ecclestone, full and outside off, Ecclestone squeezes that in the gap behind point and by the time it is chased down they run three, wow! 2 off 2!
Sophie Ecclestone batting at 7th position
Amy Jones has been dismissed for 10 runs off 12 balls
19.3 Arundhati Reddy to Amy Jones, RADHA YADAV WITH A CATCH OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Talk about clutch, this is as good as it gets. What a situation to pull that one of the locker, Radha Yadav might have just won the game for India. It was a length delivery around off, Jones went for the big slog sweep but did not get all of it. Radha ran a long way across from deep mid-wicket and dived full length to pluck it off inches from the ground. She was mid-air when she completed the catch, take a bow!
19.2 Arundhati Reddy to Paige Scholfield, right in the blockhole outside off but they still get one, squeezed to cover where Deepti was on the edge
Paige Scholfield batting at 6th position
Tammy Beaumont has been dismissed for 30 runs off 20 balls
19.1 Arundhati Reddy to Tammy Beaumont, THROUGH HER, this is still not over, folks. A slow full toss that dipped on Beaumont, she was looking to drag that into the leg side but the lack of pace did for her. Went on to clatter into the stumps, huge break.
Run a ball needed off the last over. It's getting tense out here at Edgbaston. Who's going to bowl it? Harmanpreet Kaur has decided to go with Arundhati Reddy, who has been expensive today.
