Commentary

On a day when the mother of all contests "India vs Pakistan" got washed out due to peristent rain, it was the Guyana Amazon Warriors in Barbados who annihilated the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 98 runs to strengthen their position at the top half of the points table. It was a clinical showing which will give them immense confidence going forward. For the Patriots, it has been a sad tale so far. They have almost knocked themselves out with another shambolic performance. They would surely hope to taste a victory as we reach the business end of the comperition. Imran Tahir (Guyana Amazon Warriors captain): Look I want to thank everyone who turned up and supported us. That's how you want to play cricket. Look it's very satisfying. Dwaine and Shephi giving us very good start. There is always room for improvement but I can't see too many faults in this team. I think we need to be a bit aware. We have been losing too many wickets up front. I want to see our top order step up. Captaincy is something new for me. I am very lucky that I have great boys. We are happy for each other and enjoy each other's success.

Evin Lewis (St Kitts and Nevis Patriots captain): We started really well with the ball but the back end let us down. We batted very poorly. Basically we wanted Drakes to bowl the final over. It wasn't a bad wicket to be honest. It's been really tough. We have been chopping and changing trying to find the combination but it hasn't come off. Hopefully, it comes off tomorrow.

Dwaine Pretorius is the Player Of The Match! Here's what he has to say: The guys told me at the start of the tournament that I'll see the support from the Guyana team. It's been unbelievable, feels like the crowd's full, and it's only half full. Looking forward to coming back and hopefully, the crowd will be out to support us. I came in the 14th over, we just wanted to play good cricket shots. The first two three overs set us up at the back end. We backed ourselves to get to 170, glad we got to 186. If you try to hit the length on these wickets, you're always at the top of your game. so, today was my day. Previous day was Shephie's day. Immy is always positive, nothing's ever bad for Immy, glad to have him as a captain, I've played with him quite a bit, he backs me as a captain, so it's very good playing in this environment.

The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots were just no match in front of the Guyana Amazon Warriors as they stormed past the Patriots by 98 runs to win their 3rd match of the competition. The Patriots continued to look clueless and were never really in the game. They kept losing wickets right from the outset and they could never really claw their way back into the game. The pacers and the spinners did their job to perfection before good knocks from Shimron Hetmyer and Keemo Paul before a blitzkrieg from Romario Shepherd took the Warriors to an above-par score of 186.

Andre Fletcher struck a six and a four in the first over before departing of the bowling of Dwaine Pretorius. Evin Lewis and Will Smeed also departed early with Pretorius adding one more in the form of Sherfane Rutherford as the Patriots were reduced to 25/4. George Linde tried to resurrect the sinking ship but perished after his brief stage.

Yannic Cariah and Corbin Bosch tried to stitch a partnership before a sensational outfield throw from Hazratullah Zazai brought about the downfall of Cariah. Bosch who was set was dismissed the very next ball and the writing was very much on the wall.

Saim Ayub was introduced and he bagged a wicket in his first over before Junior Sinclair also got into the wickets column. It was a mix-up in the middle between Oshane Thomas and Dominic Drakes that brought the curtains down to a match that was one-sided for the majority of the contest.

17.1 Imran Tahir to Dominic Drakes, OUT! It's all over! Thomas was never going to get there, he didn't even bother trying to ground his bat! Not that it would have mattered, though! Drakes steered this length delivery to the left of the man at point and called Thomas through for a run. Thomas was slow off the blocks to start with, was slow in getting across to the other end, and was caught yards short as Azam gathered the throw over the stumps and broke them! The third umpire checks whether Azam broke the stumps before the ball lodged into his gloves, he didn't, and that'll seal a royal romping from the Guyana Amazon Warriors - the margin of victory being 98 runs!
