Commentary
Right then, that brings an end to our coverage of the sixth match of the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Kings XI Punjab emerging triumphant over the Royal Challengers Bangalore by a huge margin of 97 runs. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for the latest news along with live commentaries from all around the world. Do join us tomorrow at 7:30pm IST as a mouth-watering contest between the Chennai Super Kings and the Delhi Capitals awaits us. Till then, this is me, Maanas Upadhyay, and my partner, Shashwat Kumar, signing off. Stay safe!
Kings XI Punjab beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 97 runs.

The chase started off on a horrendous note as RCB were reduced to 4/3 within three overs. Devdutt Padikkal could not replicate his last match's heroics and pulled one straight to the fielder at mid-wicket. Josh Philippe was promoted up the order and came in ahead of Kohli but the gamble failed miserably as Shami trapped him in front of the sticks.

The onus of carrying the chase rested on the shoulders of Virat Kohli but his bad day at the office continued with the bat as well, with him miscuing a pull of Cottrell. AB de Villiers then joined hands with Aaron Finch as the duo stitched a partnership of 49 runs.

The introduction of spin did wonders for the Punjab outfit as Ravi Bishnoi snared the wicket of Finch. de Villiers followed the Australian limited-overs skipper back to the pavilion, falling victim to a peach by Murugan Ashwin. Washington Sundar had a good hit in the middle, scoring 30(27). On the other hand, Shivam Dube scored a run-a-ball 12 and was undone by a ripper by Maxwell.

As for the bowlers, they put up a dominant show tonight, with Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin picking up three wickets each. Sheldon Cottrell snared two wickets up front while Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Shami chipped in with a wicket each.

With this, the Kings XI Punjab rocket to the top of the points table while the Royal Challengers Bangalore are now placed sixth. In the post-match interview, Virat Kohli reckons that they bowled well in the middle overs. However, he rues the dropped chances and believe it cost them 35-40 runs. He said that he knows exactly where they have gone wrong and says that there are some days like these and they have to accept it. He feels that they need to move on and learn from the mistakes that they committed today.

KL Rahul has been adjudged as the Man of the match for his scintillating knock of 132(69), which is not only the highest score by an Indian but also the highest score by a captain in the IPL.
Over 17 | Summary: 4 W 1w 0 1 1 W Bowler: Murugan Ashwin 109/10
16.6 Murugan Ashwin to Yuzvendra Chahal, OUT! THAT WILL BE THAT! Tossed up on a full length on middle and off. Chahal has a huge mow at it and gets nowhere near the ball. The ball thuds into his pads and the umpire has no qualms in raising his finger!
16.5 Murugan Ashwin to Dale Steyn, another wrong'un on a length on off stump. Steyn does not pick the variation and somehow manages to squirt it away to square leg for one
16.4 Murugan Ashwin to Yuzvendra Chahal, full delivery on off stump. Chahal gets forward and drives down the ground to long on for a single
16.3 Murugan Ashwin to Yuzvendra Chahal, back of a length delivery outside off. Chahal reads the googly and defends it with the full face of the bat
16.3 Murugan Ashwin to Yuzvendra Chahal, full delivery well outside off stump and that has been called a wide
16.2 Murugan Ashwin to Navdeep Saini, OUT! CASTLED! Wrong'un on a length on off stump and Saini looks to smack that one into next week. He leaves an enormous gap between bat and pad though and the ball finds a way through! Saini hears the death rattle soon after! What a comeback from Ashwin after being smacked for a boundary first up!
16.1 Murugan Ashwin to Navdeep Saini, FOUR! Length outside off stump and Saini gets close enough to the ball before lifting it over extra cover for a boundary! That is a top-shot! Waited patiently for the ball and carved it over covers!
Sundar decides to go after the spinner and belts a huge maximum off the first ball itself. However, Bishnoi bounces back strongly and grabs the wicket of Sundar off the very next delivery. He finishes with envious figures of 3/32 from his four overs. RCB need 105 runs in 4 overs at 26.25 RPO.
Over 16 | Summary: 6 W 0 0 1 0 Bowler: Ravi Bishnoi 102/8
15.6 Ravi Bishnoi to Dale Steyn, full delivery outside off and this one is a googly too. Steyn gets a huge stride in and is rapped on the pads. But, the impact is outside off, meaning that the appeal is stifled, at best
15.5 Ravi Bishnoi to Navdeep Saini, back of a length delivery outside off. Saini gets in line and punches down the ground for a single
15.4 Ravi Bishnoi to Navdeep Saini, quicker delivery on a full length on off. Saini gets forward and defends into the on side via the inside half of his bat
15.3 Ravi Bishnoi to Navdeep Saini, tossed up on a length outside off. Saini goes for the booming cover drive but gets an inside edge onto his pad instead
15.2 Ravi Bishnoi to Washington Sundar, GONE THIS TIME! Length delivery on leg stump and Sundar looks to repeat the dose! However, this time, he is not to the pitch of the ball, meaning that he spoons it up off the bottom part of the bat. Karun Nair comes in from long on and completes the catch and Bishnoi extracts his revenge!!
15.1 Ravi Bishnoi to Washington Sundar, SIX! Right in the slot outside off and Sundar swings through the line. He gets decent enough contact and just about clears the long off fence. A brilliant shot by Sindar. Leans in slightly and muscles it over long off. The fielder can only watch it fly over his head!
A poor fielding effort gifts Sundar a boundary while the batsmen take a few singles off the other deliveries. With the required run-rate just a touch above 22, it is all but over for RCB.
