Kings XI Punjab beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 12 runs

David Warner (at the post-match conference):
Yeah it does (hurt a lot). Our bowlers did a fantastic job to restrict them. After the start we got, we took our foot off the pedal. Felt on that wicket it was going to get tougher once the spin came into it. For us it was about trying to apply pressure upfront, negate the swing bowling, but obviously we didn't get across the line. They bowled well with the new ball (his bowlers). Didn't get all the wickets upfront but we brought it back well. Today our bowlers executed the plans well, very happy with them. Just have to forget this game and move forward.

An improbable victory for Kings XI Punjab in Dubai here! KXIP defend the lowest score of IPL 2020. KL Rahul & Co. will be super-stoked at the moment! After defeating top-3 teams consecutively, KXIP have defended a paltry total which would have given done a whole lot of good to their confidence. They are closing the matches now!

Very few would have given any chance to KXIP at the halfway stage and especially after the rollicking start SRH had courtesy their openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow. However, after David Warner departed against the leg-spin of Ravi Bishnoi, the SRH batsmen never got the momentum at their side. The problems were compounded after Jonny Bairstow threw his wicket, playing a nothing shot!

The heroes of previous match, Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar tried to steer their team to the victory shores and somehow succeeded in bringing the equation down. however, the KXIP bowlers continued wth their dogged spirit and first Pandey departed off the bowling of Chris Jordan and then it was the turn of Arshdeep to pick Vijay Shankar's wicket who was rattled by a hit to the head on the previous ball.

After Shankar's departure, the SRH batsmen started falling off like a house of cards! An experienced Jason Holder succumbed to pressure whereas a flamboyant Rashid Khan wilted in the pressure of the big shots.

Chris Jordan and Arshdeep Singh were the pick of the bowlers but it was the spell of Ravi Bishnoi, who finished with figures of 4-0-13-1 that proved to be the match-winning spell which eventually set the platform for KXIP death bowlers to capitalize upon!

KXIP have peaked at the right time and after four consecutive wins, they have given themselves a chance to aim for the full 16 points and make a last dash to the ourth place in the points table!

So that's that from our side, this is Abhinav Singh and my partner Balashankar signing off! Join us tomorrow at the 3:30 PM IST for the first match of the doubleheader Sunday between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings! Until then, stay safe, stay indoors and keep washing your hands! Good night fellas!
Over: 20 | Summary: 1 W W 0 W Bowler: Score: 0/0
19.5 Arshdeep Singh to Khaleel Ahmed, OUT! OH MY! Defended the back of a length delivery and decides to take a stroll in the park. Suddenly realised that he is on a cricket field and decides to run, but it was too late by that time. The fielder at point effects a direct hit and he is way too short of the ground
19.4 Arshdeep Singh to Khaleel Ahmed, back of a length delivery outside off, DEFENDED to backward point. Wow! Khaleel Ahmed backing himself to hit two in two!
Surely, even KXIP cannot bottle this now! 13 required in 3 deliveries Khaleel Ahmed is the last man to walk into the middle
19.3 Arshdeep Singh to Priyam Garg, OUT! And there goes the last recognised batsman! Once again an off-cutter into the deck, no pace at all for the batsman to work with. Hits it straight up in the air as he tries to flat bat it, and Jordan pouches it in his bucket-like hands at long-on! KXIP never lost the belief and they kept fighting and fighting!
Arshdeep is doing it for KXIP! the men from Punjab are on the cusp of a victory! T Natarajan is the new man in, 13 required in 4 deliveries
19.2 Arshdeep Singh to Sandeep Sharma, OUT! Off-cutter bowled into the deck, Sandeep Sharma tries his best to go over the top but gets the toe end of the bat on the pull which lobs to the fielder at mid-wicket. They are falling like nine pins here
19.1 Arshdeep Singh to Priyam Garg, slower length ball on the body, tries to go for the big hit but gets the top edge which lands in no man's land near square leg! Sandeep on strike, can he hit some out of the park?
Chris Jordan has bowled a memorable penultimate over here! He has given Arshdeep more than enough to defend in the final over! If KXIP pull this off, it would be me of those improbable victories in the franchise's history!

FINAL 6 DELIVERIES COMING UP! 14 required in 6 legal balls! Priyam Garg and Sandeep Sharma on the crease! Pensive looks all around in the SRH dugout!

PRESSURE! Pressure inducing that false shot from an experienced Jason Holder! SRH have dug a hole for themselves! KXIP are in with a realistic chance of a victory here!

Rashid Khan is the new man in! Mind you, he can use the long handle to good affect
18.3 Chris Jordan to Jason Holder, OUT! CAUGHT! Full ball outside off, tries to go big but it is too full to get under it. Hits it straight to Mandeep Singh at extra cover. The match is turning on its head here
18.2 Chris Jordan to Priyam Garg, full ball outside off, tries to drive and gets an inside edge onto the pads. Scampers for the single nevertheless!
18.1 Chris Jordan to Jason Holder, right in the blockhole, digs it out to long-on for a single. excellent start from Jordan, right on the money! Anything over 10 in the final over would be a challenge!
What an excellent little passage of play from KXIP and Arshdeep Singh! They have given themselves a chance to fight for another over! A quick couple of wickets in Jordan's over and you might never know! Pressure does funny things to people!

17 required in the FINAL 2! Jordan's figures so far in the evening 3-0-14-1
