That was a drubbing of the highest proportion. Islamabad United will be overjoyed with their outing today while Islamabad United suffered their 2nd defeat in the tournament. The Qalandars have got to the top of the ladder with four wins in 5 games. The PSL carnival continues day after tomorrow with the Peshawar Zalmi slated to lock horns against the Karachi Kings. Shaheen Afridi (Lahore Qalandars captain): We played very good cricket today. We improved our batting today, we got a great start. See in yesterday’s match we tried to score 160-170 but we ended up conceding too many runs. We were focused more on dot deliveries. Wiese, Rashid and Raza bowled brilliantly today. It becomes easy for a captain when your local players are performing.

David Wiese (Player of the Match): Yeah it seemed to be more cracked out there. It was still a decent wicket. Yea I think we know we have a batting unit that can consistently score 200 but our bowlers did it today which was a great thing. Lahore has been a team that has given me so many opportunities. They have given me responsibilities as a senior player. I am happy to help in any way I can.

Shadab Khan (Islamabad United captain): The pitch was a bit two-paced and difficult. It was a 170-180 pitch. We had to be aggressive in the Powerplay. Those days will happen when you get out cheaply but that's the approach in modern-day cricket. We are okay with that. We have to forget about this game. From the crowd's point of view, I want to say sorry. They wanted a thrilling game and we couldn't give them that. They'll still be happy that Lahore won though. We'll go to Rawalpindi where we will get some support. Looking forward to playing in front of the home crowd.

Rashid Khan: It's pretty hard as a team to play back-to-back games. The way the guys have shown character in all three departments it great. We know how good Islamabad are, so we're glad to win. I feel like I missed my line and length yesterday. You can't do that in T20s. It's all in the mind. You have to keep things consistent and the rest will take care of itself. Finally, some pace on the ball and fuller. As soon as I got it, I thought it's mine. The fans have waited a long time for the helicopter shot and it was great.

Chasing a mammoth 201 to win, Islamabad United needed to get off to a good start to harbor hopes of chasing this down. Shaheen Afridi provided a couple of gifts in the very first over, conceding five wides on a couple of occasions as the Qalandars raced off to 14/0 at the end of the 1st over. Gurbaz and Munro played some delightful shots and shared a 41-run stand inside the 4th over.

However, the wicket of Gurbaz opened up the match for the Qalandars as they ran through the Islamabad middle order and the lower order. Zaman Khan provided the initial breakthrough and it was followed by an exceptional spell from David Wiese which turned the match on it's head. The Qalandars just couldn't stitch a stand together and lost their way in the midde overs.

Colin Munro played a few delightful shots but none of the other batters could get going. Wiese got the prized wickets of Azam Khan, Colin Munro and Shadab Khan and from there the onus was on the spinners to get the job done for the Qalandars. Tom Curran came out with intent and smashed a six before perishing at the hands of Rashid.

Sikandar Raza then finished off proceedings in the 14th over. Hasan Ali was run out in an attempt to steal a single while Zeeshan and Abrar were bamboozled by Raza as he finished with a couple. Wiese was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets to his name while Rashid and Sikandar Raza bagged a couple of wickets each. Shadab Khan expressed his disappointment at the performance but it's all about coming back strongly in the next match.

Earlier in the day, the Qalandars scored a more than competitive 200 in their allotted 20 overs. There were vital contributions from several players. Abdullah Shafique was the top scorer with a knock of 45 in just 24 deliveries. Fakhar Zaman also chipped in with a fine knock but the late impetus was provided by Sikandar Raza and Rashid Khan. Raza remained unbeaten on a quickfire 23 which came in a mere 10 deliveries, The score proved way too much in the end for the Islamabad United.

What an incredible effort from the Lahore Qalandars bowlers, back-to-back wins for them. The champions are on the march here, having won by a mammoth margin of 110 runs. This is the 2nd equal biggest margin of defeat in the history of PSL. A clinical showing from the Qalandars as the Islamabad United batters lost the plot after the opening partnership and could never really recover from the jolts. In the end, it was a team hat-trick for Islamabad as Sikandar Raza bagged the wickets of Zeeshan Zameer and Abrar Ahmed to seal the deal.
