Rassie van der Dussen: A Brief Biography

Rassie van der Dussen is a South African cricket player who was born on 7 October 1989 in Pretoria, South Africa. He is a Right Handed Batsman and a leg break bowler. However, his primary role in his team is that of a batsman although he can do wonders with the ball as well.


Debut

Rassie van der Dussen made his T20I debut on 9 October 2018, against Zimbabwe at East London. He made 56 runs off 44 balls with 5 boundaries and a six. This innings helped South Africa to beat Zimbabwe by 34 runs.


He made his ODI debut against Pakistan on 19 January 2019 at Port Elizabeth. He played remarkable innings but missed his debut match century by 7 runs. He scored 93 runs off 101 balls with 6 boundaries and 3 sixes. But in the end, he remained on the losing side as Pakistan managed to win the match by 5 wickets.


Stats

Rassie van der Dussen has played 7 T20I matches and has scored 253 runs with an average of 36.14 and 2 half centuries. He has also played 9 One Day Internationals and has scored 353 runs at an average of 88.24 with 4 half centuries. Also, he is an excellent fielder and has taken 6 catches in One Day Internationals and 3 in T20Is.


Club Career

Rassie van der Dussen has been associated with various clubs as well. He played for the Vancouver Knights in the first season of Global T20 Canada and came out to be the leading scorer of the tournament. He scored 255 runs in matches and was praised for his performance.


He is also a member of the Jodi Stars in the 2018 Mzansi Superleague where he again emerged as the top scorer of the tournament. He scored 469 runs and helped the Jodi Stars to clinch the inaugural season of the tournament.


Apart from these clubs, he has played for Highveld Lions and Northerns as well.
