So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj and my co-commentator, Sooryanarayanan Sesha. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda as we have a double-header on Sunday too apart from a couple of international fixtures. Join us and enjoy some quality cricket. Until next time, adios!
Mark Wood, Player of the Match: Last time I was here, played for CSK and it didn't go quite well. Wanted to make an impact this time. (On his troubles with the landing area) It was no good for me. Definitely going to be a factor when we play here, the dew element. We practiced at night here and it has been like this. I was slipping more than I was expecting. Tried to keep it simple and follow a similar plan to what I have with England. Today, I was trying to keep my stride short because it was so wet. When you are worried about the front-line and whether you are going to slip, it does get into your mind!
KL Rahul: It was a great start. We aren't too familiar with these conditions. (Whether it was a blessing in disguise to lose the toss) Now, maybe after the win, you feel that. Now with the rules, you can choose the team after the toss. Felt we were 25-30 runs above par with the way Kyle batted. But the way they started, got 35-40 runs in the first four overs. There was some due. We felt it could get easier for batting but came back well. The whole group actually. It was Woody's day. Got a five-wicket haul which is a dream for a bowler. It is important. We will take a lot of confidence from this. It is T20 cricket, you need to turn up everyday. We don't want to think too much about this!
Time for the Post-match Presentation!
Marcus Stoinis (Lucknow Super Giants): What a brilliant start for us with our big boys firing and Woody bowling 160 ks. It was a nice feeling. (On Mayers' knock) That's what the coaches always say, nice problems to have. As long as we're winning, it's good. That was absolutely soapy (in the second half). We do practice under lights when we do the fielding out here. There's not much you can do. It's quite a sandy surface and the spikes skid through the surface. A couple of the boys slipped over. It's just about accepting it and practicing really. (On the pitch) It looked a little bit different on each end of the wicket. One end it seemed to spin a little bit more. Nicky Pooran gave himself two balls - he batted beautifully and Ayush Badoni as well. (Why didn't he bowl? Is he fit?) Everything's great, not required (grins).
David Warner (Delhi Capitals captain): It was a bit of a challenge. We had some early momentum with the fast bowlers, they bowled very well in the powerplay. A few dropped catches and the momentum shifted there but you can't take anything away from Lucknow. They batted very very well. I thought 170 was par but they did an exceptional job. Momentum is a big thing in this game. Don't take it away from Woody, he's an exceptional bowler and he showed his true talent tonight and his experience. I feel on this wicket you're playing on two different surfaces from either end. We started very well. Our bowlers bowled exceptionally well. But when one guy goes big, he's a big strong boy (Mayers). He was hard to stop. We go back to Delhi in front of our home crowd. We have to assess the wicket there. Last time I was in Delhi back in 2010-11 it was low and slow. It looks like there's a bit of green grass there now with some dew coming in late in the night. That was a bit of a different wicket with the red ball and we'll forget about that (laughs when asked about the wicket at the Delhi Test last month).
MATCH OVER!
Lucknow Super Giants win by 50 runs!
Lucknow Super Giants 193-6 (20) Delhi Capitals 143-9 (20)
David Warner 56 (48) | Rilee Rossouw 30 (20)
Mark Wood 4-0-14-5 | Avesh Khan 4-0-29-2
What a comprehensive win from Lucknow Super Giants. They were on top right from the moment Kyle Mayers and KL Rahul walked out to bat. The batters put on a show and posted 193-6 on the board. Delhi needed a good start chasing that target and they did get a pretty decent one with David Warner and Prithvi Shaw looking good. However, the introduction of Mark Wood in the fifth over changed the complexion as he removed Shaw and Mitchell Marsh off back-to-back deliveries. Things became worse as Wood also dismissed Sarfarz Khan in the seventh over!
From there on, the experienced pair of Prithvi Shaw and Rilee Rossouw rebuilt decently even though the former couldn't quite find the fence with ease. Just when the partnership was blooming, Ravi Bishnoi got Rossouw out in a strange manner as the South African edged to Mayers at first slip. Bishnoi also sent back Rovman Powell with a googly and that almost ended the contest.
After bowling a solid opening spell, Avesh came back and got two wickets in the form of Aman Khan and Warner in the 16th over. In the end, Wood took a couple of wickets in the final over to register a superb five-for. The skipper KL Rahul and the team management will be delighted with this performance while Delhi will hope that it can only get better from here!

19.6 Mark Wood to Mukesh Kumar, hones a full one into middle and leg stump as Mukesh backs away and makes room. He manages to get bat on ball to push it out to cover. A dominant display of some kind by the hosts - Lucknow Super Giants romp home by 50 runs!

IT IS A MICHELLE FIVE-FER FOR MARK WOOD!
19.5 Mark Wood to Chetan Sakariya, GONE! FIVE FOR WOOD! This has been a spell to remember by the English bolter. Banged into the surface around leg stump as it gets high on Sakariya. He heaves it high off the cue-end before mid-wicket gobbles up an absolute dolly. First five-for of the season and it goes to Mark Wood. What a spell, what a bowler!
Chetan Sakariya c Krunal Pandya b Mark Wood 4 (4b) (4*1 6*1)
19.4 Mark Wood to Chetan Sakariya, banged into the track outside leg stump. Sakariya ducks and lets it go to the keeper
19.3 Mark Wood to Chetan Sakariya, banged in short just outside the off stump. Sakariya has a heave across the line but only to connect with the thin Lucknow atmosphere around him
19.2 Mark Wood to Chetan Sakariya, FOUR! Fuller this time on middle and off stump as Sakariya pumps it up and over the vacant wide mid-off region. Nobody there to come in the way of this one!
Chetan Sakariya, LHB, is into the middle.
Mark Wood continues to have a flawless day. Axar Patel has found the man at deep backward square-leg to give Wood his fourth wicket!
19.1 Mark Wood to Axar Patel, OUT! FOUR FOR WOOD! Length delivery on the pads and Axar brings out a nonchalant pick-up flick off his wrists. He doesn't get enough to clear the substitute Prerak Mankad at deep square leg as it goes straight down his throat. It's been a dream outing for Mark Wood!
Axar Patel c (sub) Prerak Mankad b Mark Wood 16 (11b) (4*1 6*1)
Mark Wood [3-0-10-3] is back into the attack
Just eight runs off the penultimate over even with Jaydev Unadkat conceding five wides of a delivery! We are moving into a quiet end here!
