New Zealand win by 53 runs!

A comfortable win for New Zealand. But it was not an easy ride for the hosts. After winning the toss, Aussie skipper Aaron Finch opted to bowl first. His decision was kind of justified as New Zealand were reduced to 34/3 inside the Powerplay losing their skipper Kane Williamson in that space. But three early wickets brought together, Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips. The two batsmen put a 74 run stand from 50 balls to revive the Blackcaps innings. Phillips made his way back after scoring 30. But Conway, who is enjoying a purple patch, continued to bat on. He was well supported by James Nesham who played a good cameo of 26 from 15 balls. Conway exploded towards the end of the New Zealand innings as he finished just one run short of what could have been his first T20I ton. Conway walked back to a standing ovation as he hit 10 fours and three sixes to take New Zealand to a comprehensive total of 184/5 in 20 overs.

Buoyed by Conway's exploits with the bat, New Zealand's new ball pair of Tim Southee and Trent Boul dented the Aussie chase early as the visitors were reduced to 19/4 inside the Powerplay overs. Mitchell Marsh steadied the ship for Australia with a 33-ball 45. But then it the turn of Ish Sodhi to spin the ball and warp things for the Blackcaps. The leggie picked four wickets and ran through the Aussie middle and lower order as the visitors were bowled out on 131 in 17.3 overs.
Kane Williamson: A really great knock from Devon Conway. It was a great knock on a surface that was not to bat on. There was a lot of excitement to get back as a team and play for New Zealand. The dew came into play which helped the guys to swing the ball. It is nice that we could be here and put up a show for the people of Christchurch.
Aaron Finch: It feels like a long time (about quarantine). But it feels great to be back on the park. But New Zealand played well and they deserved the win. They build good partnerships. They ran hard in between the wickets. It is always great to have a debutant (Phillipe) in the team. Shame that we could not win the match for him.
Conway: I played some strong shots. There were a bit of nerves. But it was good to bat out in the middle. It is about keeping momentum. The key to my batting is playing strong shots. A little bit disappointed to miss out on my hundred but more disappointed for Ish Sodhi because he missed out on his 5-for.
Devon Conway is the Player of the Match.
And that ends Australia's innings. New Zealand win the match by 53 runs and go 1 up in this 5-match series.

A 53-run win is an authoritative victory in a T20 match. New Zealand continue their streak of T20 wins at home. A comprehensive all-round performance from the Blackcaps. The players shake hands as they walk back to the dugout.
17.3 Mitchell Santner to Jhye Richardson, OUT! THAT WILL BE THAT! Slower and shorter outside off stump. The flight though, entices Richardson to come down the track. However, he is completely deceived in the air, meaning that he is nowhere to the pitch of the ball and swings at it in an agricultural fashion. The ball spins past the bat and is collected by the keeper, who whips off the bails with Richardson well short!
Richardson is having a bit of fun towards the end of the match.
17.2 Mitchell Santner to Jhye Richardson, SIX! RIGHT OUT OF THE SCREWS! In the slot outside off stump and Richardson helps himself to it! He dances down the track and mousses that one over wide long on for a maximum!
17.1 Mitchell Santner to Adam Zampa, back of a length delivery on off stump. Zampa gets onto the back foot and eases that one down the ground towards long on for a single
Santner to bowl.
Nine runs from the over. Boult is unable to finish things for New Zealand. The win is delayed a bit for New Zealand.
Over: 17 | Summary: 2 4 1 0 1 1lb Bowler: Trent Boult Score: 124/9
16.6 Trent Boult to Adam Zampa, back of a length delivery angled into the batsman on leg stump. Zampa looks to work to leg but is late on the shot as the ball deflects off the pads for a leg bye
16.5 Trent Boult to Jhye Richardson, slower delivery on a length outside off stump. Richardson clears his front leg and powers that one down the ground towards long on for a single
16.4 Trent Boult to Jhye Richardson, another rapid bumper at the batsman on middle and leg stump. Richardson swings for the hills and is awfully late as the ball fizzes through to Seifert
16.3 Trent Boult to Adam Zampa, SAFE! Dug into the track at the batsman on leg stump. Zampa is cramped for room completely and clinks it just beyond the fielder at short mid wicket for one
16.2 Trent Boult to Adam Zampa, EDGED AND FOUR! Length delivery just outside off stump. Zampa gives himself room and slashes at it. However, he only gets an inside edge that rolls perilously past leg stump and into the fine leg fence
16.1 Trent Boult to Adam Zampa, banged into the track outside off stump. Zampa backs away and pulls that one towards the sweeper on the deep mid wicket fence for a couple
