Mitchell Marsh (Australia captain): "At times when you are chasing 160, it does feel as though you better get it over and done with. But we made it tough for ourselves. Anyway, it's good to win, especially away! It wasn't easy to bat on up front but once the ball lost its hardness, it got better. All teams are getting ready for the World Cup and so are we, but this kind of a performance, keeping quite a few things in mind, is a top effort."
Michael Bracewell (New Zealand captain): "We have to take our hats off to Mitchell Marsh! He was the reason for this result! The pitch was under cover for a couple of days and that didn't make batting any easier. So, we got a competitive score on the board. After that, we fought right till the end. Just needed to get Mitch out! I think we can do with a longer series in this format, because our cricket is heading in the right direction."
Mitchell Marsh (Player of the Match, 103* off 52 balls): "Loved the innings, great to get the win! It was a scrappy game, we did make heavy weather of things, but got over the line and that's all that matters! I was lucky I would say!"
11:22 PM local time (3:52 PM IST): Time for the post-match presentation.
11:15 PM local time (3:45 PM IST): Australia win by 3 wickets with 2 overs to spare and take the 3-match series 2-0!
Mitchell Marsh 103* (52) | Sean Abbott - 3/25 (4) Tim Seifert 48 (35) | JImmy Neesham - 4/26 (4)
A sensational captain's knock from Mitchell Marsh! A hundred, remaining unbeaten and with a scorecard in which the second highest score is 14! The surface was not the easiest to bat on by any means and that got backed up by New Zealand picking up as many as 7 wickets! Marsh did all this after facing the first ball of the innings! Simple unbelievable and perhaps one of the greatest T20I knocks of all time has just been played, that too, to win a series! And if all these are not enough, it has been done away from home!
Jimmy Neesham put it a tremendous effort and took 4 key wickets. Mark Chapman led the way in the field with two superb catches and overall, the Blackcaps backed up the bowling with their fielding, as expected, but were unable to get rid of one man - Mitchell Marsh! No other batter found it easy going out there but Sean Abbott holding firm right towards the end helped his captain, big time! He too has had a good match!
A proper contest between bat and ball was witnesses tonight but Australia, thanks to their skipper, got the job done under pressure!
