Commentary

Thank you so much for joining us for yet another contest! This is Sooryanayaran Sesha and myself (Pranav Danani) who will be taking your leave. If you are wondering what next ? The drama! The fight! The match we all wanted to see on a Tuesday morning! It was an absolutely cracker of a contest between the two teams. It was a match that India were close to winning, but fell just short with the wickets as they dropped a few chances and missed the stumps 4-5 times in the match which lead to the opportunities of the wickets falling and it was the batters who eventually got the upper hand in the contest as they got the win yet again.

The match started with the skipper and Bates getting the White Ferns the amazing start they needed to chase down the big total and it looked like we were going to see yet another wonderful knock from Bates along with the skipper hitting those runs at the other end. But India-W, got 3 wickets in a row and made a mess of the top order which got the batters under pressure. It looked like India were on their way to take the wickets and win this comfortably, but in came the Wonder Woman, Amelia Kerr who along with Green got the team to an amazing partnership as Kerr made an unbeaten knock of 119 not out with Green getting dismissed just after her half century. Kerr was dropped twice by the keeper and that was one of the biggest chances in the game for India-W as the result of this match could have looked a lot different for them.

After Green's dismissal, two wickets fell in the final powerplay and it looked like India could pull off a sensational win, but it was the Kerr sisters who made no mistake in getting the final runs on the board and eventually get their side 2-0 up in the series.

Tossed up into a shortish length just outside off, Jess hangs on the back foot and flat-bats it up and over extra cover and upon clearing the infield, there was only one result possible which was of course, the ball racing away to the boundary ropes. A fine run chase but it was a lot closer alright! New Zealand beat India by 3 wickets with an over to spare and go 2-0 up in the series!

48.5 Harmanpreet Kaur to Amelia Kerr, short and wide of off again, Amelia hangs back and places her uppish cut into the backward point region as she manages to send it rolling into the deep. The sisters tear back for the third run though and they're almost there.

A touch short around off, Kerr rocks back and powers it towards mid-off before haring across to the other end of the pitch. A direct hit was needed despite the throw being sharp and the running being quick!
