11:15 PM local time and IST: The ground staff were the real heroes indeed! Had it not been for them, we might have had another no-result. But in the end, it was hard on Sri Lanka Women. However, South Africa Women were professional enough to get the job done and collect two important points. They now are in a good position to make the semi-finals. The action now shifts to the match between New Zealand Women and Pakistan Women, tomorrow, at this very venue! Yes, the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will have the scheduled start at 3:00 PM local time and IST. But that relies heavily on how the weather holds. We don't want rain to spoilsport again! Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa Women captain): "It only stopped raining about 10 minutes before cut-off! So, it was an interesting wait! But, we are happy with two points. Happy also that Tazmin (Brits) and I got it done ourselves! We need a game now in which all departments come together. We still haven't played our best game. It's tough to switch on and stay switched on in rain delays like this, that got found out when we began after the break, but, that's the nature of this game I guess."

Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka Women captain): "We can't control the weather unfortunately! We have two more games left now, so, we now want to finish the tournament on a high. We decided to bat first keeping 50 overs in mind, but, we can't help it when things change. It's hard for the spinners to grip the wet ball, but these things do happen. As a team, we have to play positive cricket and be smart as a batting unit."

Laura Wolvaardt is the Player of the Match. She says, "Very relieved that we got a game in the end. We waited for a long time. In the end happy to get the two points. We treated it like a normal T20 game. Tried to get ahead of the run rate early. That ball was a bar of soap when we were fielding there. But it came onto the bat nicely. It was a bit tough as a captain. Our death bowlers had already bowled out. So I had to turn to spin with the wet ball. When I am out there batting, I don't think about anything else. I just try to watch the ball as closely as I can."

South Africa win 4 matches in the row, after suffering a 10-wicket defeat! That is some performance! Now, they are very much on track for a top-four finish.

Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits were the only ones required! Yes, the Proteas Women did not require anyone else to get the job done. Both batters batted beautifully! Wolvaardt was her usual self, stroking some lovely boundaries. Brits struggled a bit initially, but found her mojo towards the end.

In fact, both the batters got to their respective half-centuries! They got some easy deliveries to put away too, but one cannot really fault the Sri Lankans too much, given the slippery conditions.

Sri Lanka tried hard, but didn't bowl enough wicket-taking balls. And with the target set against this batting line-up, one needed to go for wickets instead of containing runs.
