RCB win by 6 runs

Right then, lots to ponder for the Sunrisers moving forward. This is the third time in the recent past that they've botched a fairly straightforward chase and just like David Warner mentioned, there are no excuses for that performance especially after seeing the exact same thing happen less than 24 hours ago. RCB, on the other hand, will be extremely delighted with this win. They've kickstarted their 2021 season with 2 wins from 2 games and it'll give them immense confidence moving forward having won a close game like this one. They also move to the top of the points table and their goal will be to stay there for as long as possible.
Glenn Maxwell (Man of the Match): Yea it's a very nice start. A new franchise for me and they gave me a very specefic role and its nice to contribute to victories. Its nice to have AB behind me and gives me a lot of confidence. (On him chatting with Kohli at the crease) It's just us sharing our experiences and assessing conditions. It wasn't the easiest wicket out there and it was important to get settled and then get the momentum flowing. Having those guys behind me is a nice luxury. Previously I was expected to go from ball one and that's not really my thing. I'm still waiting to get my chance to bowl. The more I contribute with the runs the happier I'll be.
Virat Kohli (RCB Captain): It was a tough game for us. I think the wicket will get more and more challenging here as the game progresses. We saw what happened yesterday with Mumbai and you're never out of the game until it's really over. Yea the message was pretty clear, I told the guys that we shouldn't think we struggled to get to the total. I told them to walk in thinking that we could win this game. I honestly thought that 150 was a decent total. I felt that our execution was brilliant tonight. I think it's about getting momentum in the first 6 overs and building onto that. I think Maxi's innings was a defining innings for us tonight. To be very honest, we are not getting over excited with victories this time around. We got Harshal from Delhi and we gave him a role of bowling at the death and he's doing brilliantly. The focus is to bind well as a team and do well together.
David Warner (SRH Captain): Yea very bitter pill to swallow. I thought our bowlers did very well to restrict them to that total. But at the end of the day you need one or two batsmen to be there till the end and we failed to do that. The plan was to build partnerships and play simple cricket but it was disappointing to see how we approached that towards the middle part of that innings. We've got another 3 games on this surface and we know how it plays now. We need to have bigger partnerships and ensure that we have that one guy towards the end. We played an identical game to last night and there's absolutely no excuse for that.
This is some win for RCB! It'll give them a lot of confidence moving forward! They were down and out for most of the chase but they came back from the dead and sealed an unlikely victory! They saw what happened last night and much like the Mumbai Indians, RCB never stopped believing. They held their nerve and in the end, closed the game out in emphatic fashion.

After being asked to bat first, RCB managed only a modest 149/8 from their 20 overs. Glenn Maxwell starred for the Challengers with the bat with a 41-ball 59 and there weren't too many other contributions apart from skipper Kohli's 29-ball 31.

In so many ways, tonight's game was eerily similar to last night's game and it started off with the chasing team getting off to a flying start. Despite Saha being dismissed early and Siraj bowling a fabulous spell upfront, SRH got off to a flying start as they managed to bring up their fifty inside the mandatory powerplay.

They were coasting comfortably with David Warner and Manish Pandey at the crease and it looked like they were on their way to a comfortably victory. David Warner stroked his way to his 49th IPL fifty and SRH had a firm grasp of the game up until his dismissal in the 14th over.

And just like yesterday, one wicket brought two and two brought three. Warner's wicket ended up being the catalyst for an SRH batting collapse. Kohli's decision to bring Shahbaz Ahmed on to bowl the 17th over turned out to be a masterstroke as he managed to send 3 SRH batsmen back to the shed in the same over. All three of Bairstow, Pandey and Samad fell trying to take the attack to the spinner.

And things just kept going downhill for SRH from thereon. The asking rate kept climbing and SRH simply faltered under pressure. Vijay Shankar fell in the over that followed and Holder in the one after that and just like that, SRH ended up losing a fairly straightforward chase.

There was some last over drama though as Harshal Patel bowled a waist high full-toss to Rashid Khan that also went for four and that reduced the equation to 8 needed off 4 balls. However, Patel bowled an excellent free-hit delivery and every RCB fan would have been relieved after Rashid was run-out off the penultimate delivery of the over.

That was the game then. SRH should have won, but they didn't after botching a straightforward chase. RCB, on the contrary, stayed patient and seized their opportunity when they were presented with it. They never stopped believing and they managed to pull off an incredible win.
Over: 20 | Summary: 1 2 5nb 0 W W 1 Bowler: Harshal Patel Score: 0/0
19.6 Harshal Patel to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, RCB WIN! Slower delivery on a length just outside off stump. Kumar swings himself off his feet but ends up dragging it terribly towards deep mid wicket. Just a single and SRH only have themselves to blame!
T Natarajan, LHB, makes his way out to the crease
The catch is taken quite easily and that should be the game for RCB!
19.5 Harshal Patel to Shahbaz Nadeem, OUT! ANOTHER FOR HARSHAL PATEL! Slower delivery that is dug into the track outside off stump. Nadeem looks to ramp that one over third man but simply does not have the pace to do so. In the end, he lobs it up towards backward point, where Shahbaz runs back and snaffles up the chance! 8 off the final ball now!
Shahbaz Nadeem, RHB, makes his way out to the middle
He had to go for the second there but it simply wasn't there! RCB fans will breathe a little easier now! 7 needed off to 2 balls and SRH cannot win this without a boundary now
19.4 Harshal Patel to Rashid Khan, OUT! THAT SHOULD BE THAT! Banged into the track at the batsman on middle and leg stump. Rashid clears his front leg and swings that one away towards deep backward square leg. He then comes back for the second and is woefully short
19.3 Harshal Patel to Rashid Khan, slower bumper at the batsman on middle and off stump. Rashid swings hard at it but fails to make any contact as the ball bounces past the bat
Oh well! Is there another twist in this tale? All of a sudden it's just 8 needed off 4 and Rashid Khan's got a free hit!
19.3 Harshal Patel to Rashid Khan, FOUR! NO BALL TOO! Waist height full toss on leg stump. Rashid gets inside the line of the ball and helps that one over the man at short fine leg for four! Free Hit coming up! And, Patel might not longer be allowed to bowl!
Just 3 runs off the first 2 balls, that will not help SRH. They need boundaries and they need them desperately! 13 runs needed off 4 balls now
19.2 Harshal Patel to Rashid Khan, slower full toss on middle and off stump. Rashid clears his front leg and drags that one towards deep backward square leg for a couple. SRH need a boundary next ball!
19.1 Harshal Patel to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, very full delivery outside off stump. Kumar throws his bat at it and squirts it off the inside edge into the leg side for just a single
