Roma sporting director Monchi believes Manchester City are the strongest team left in the Champions League, but he remains calm about the looming quarter-final draw.
Eusebio Di Francesco's men edged past Shakhtar Donetsk on away goals to reach the last eight, setting up a potential meeting against one of a number of European greats. But Monchi believes City – relative newcomers on the biggest stage – hold the greatest threat, although he acknowledges that reigning champions Real Madrid cannot be written off.
"It is difficult to know who is the best," Monchi told Roma's radio network ahead of Friday's draw.
"They are all difficult."Real Madrid are used to winning everything but, for me, Manchester City are the strongest of all.
"I think our advantage at the moment is that the team are mentally strong and calm about who we might face."
Real Madrid and Sevilla enjoyed impressive wins over Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United respectively and Iniesta is keen to steer clear of Barca's LaLiga counterparts in Friday's draw.
"I want to avoid the Spaniards because we know each other too well," he added."We achieved the goal of reaching the quarter-finals against a tough opponent like Chelsea and that's our happiness."
Georginio Wijnaldum is keen to avoid Premier League rivals Manchester City when Liverpool are drawn in the Champions League quarter-finals on Friday.
Liverpool booked their place in the last-eight with a 5-0 aggregate victory over Porto, all the goals coming in the first leg in Portugal. The Reds and City are the only English representatives in the draw – which takes place in Nyon – after Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham were all eliminated.
Joining Liverpool in the draw are Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Roma and Sevilla, but it is City - who the Reds beat in the Premier League in January - that Wijnaldum is keen to avoid.
"No, not now, I don't want to play an English team now," he told ESPN FC."To be fair, we played Manchester City two times and I think the first game we had a red card, so that was a difficult game."But the second game at home, it was a good game for us. I also think the supporters enjoyed it, so even if we play Man City, I think we have two good games."
Manchester City, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Sevilla, Roma and Juventus all await their future opponents with bated breath. Will there be an El Clasico? Is this Juventus' year? Or can one of the Premier League teams like Liverpool or Manchester City go all the way? The draw is coming up at 4:30 PM IST and I for one cannot wait!
