India's Shubman Gill (110) and Cheteshwar Pujara (102*) scored centuries to put 258/2 before KL Rahul declared the innings in the last 12 overs of the day. The day started with Kuldeep Yadav completing his third fifer in Tests which eventually bowled out the hosts for 150. The Indian openers, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill, diligently negated the Bangladesh bowling attack sans Ebadot Hossain. Rahul departed just after lunch but Gill and Pujara went on to record three-digit scores as India set Bangladesh for a formidable target of 513. The idea was to pick a few quick Bangladesh wickets but their openers defied KL Rahul's plans with some dogged resistance in the final 12 overs. Shubman Gill: I perosnally thought it was long time coming (maiden Test century). I was talking to Virat bhai and discussing how it's been some time since I haven't been able to get my first Test century for my team. It was about surviving early on and then cashing in. There weren't too many different thoughts. It was all about how I can get to my hundred and play according to field, depending on wherever they bowl to me. (The reverse sweep) It was very instinctive when the bowler came around the wicket.

Shubman Gill: I saw enough of a gap between point and third man. I don't really play the reverse sweep but the unconventional sweep and boundary were there for the taking. (Pacing the innings) By the time I faced 100 balls, I was at 70-72. So, it was all about pacing the innings and picking the right time to attack with the bowlers also getting tired. It means a lot to me, my family and my friends. It's a special feeling for any player and it means a lot to me.

Five!!! India conceded runs through overthrow as Shanto attempted to steal a risky single. Umesh Yadav missed the aim but due to lack of a backup the ball raced toward the boundary.

Bangladesh players are shell-shocked to learn that they won't be able use the DRS facility. Yasir Ali pinned Shubman Gill in front of the pads with a good length delivery. The loud appeal was turned down by the onfield umpire. Shakib Al Hasan sent the LBW call for upstairs but to their dismay, the DRS was down due to techincal glitch from the broadcaster and there were no checks for the appeal. As a result, Gill survived at the crease.

Don't know for what reason is Ebadot Hossain being hold. Like if Khaled is attempting his short ball ploy from one end, Ebadot could test with his sheer pace from the other end.

Ahh that was close. Khaled banged a short ball around KL Rahul's left shoulder. The Indian skipper was almost about to pull and nearly escaped an edge. There was a slight surprise for both the batter and the bowler after the delivery.

A quick fact for you folks. The current stand between Rahul and Gill is India's highest opening partnership for India in Tests in 2022. The previous best was 52 by Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal in the first innings of the Mohali Test against Sri Lanka in March.

50 partnership for Rahul and Gill. Must say they are determined to play a big role in setting a humungous target for Shakib and his men. Maybe you won't see Ashwin and Kuldeep bat again in this innings. Nonchalant efforts by the Indian openers to boost up their confidence after failing to convert good starts in their last innings.

Khaled Ahmed overstepped in the 19th over as the umpire signalled for a no-ball. No folks there isn't any free hit here. Not your white-ball advantage.

Four!!! Gill hits his first boundary in the innings. A full length ball from Khaled Ahmed was carved uppishly between the gully and point for four runs. There is more than instincts what KL Rahul is following at the moment for shot selection. He keeps the bat in the middle of the off and middle stump and a bit tad lift movement. Rahul waits for the ball before purely backing his feeling to play the shot through the covers or point. Remarkable.

Bangladesh maybe need Ebadot, who is yet to bowl for the hosts in this innings, to strike for them just like Siraj did for India in the afternoon yesterday. The 28-year-old pace bowler has a lot of potential and the way he cleaned up Shreyas Iyer in the first innings. Shakib should try and get out the adequate results from him.

A session safely negated by the Indian openers against Taijul Islam particularly. KL Rahul was more watchful with the ball turning in at the last moment. The stand-in skipper would want to play a big knock from here on. Shakib will persist with Taijul in terms of breaking the stand. Maybe the Bangladesh skipper should think of rolling his own arms to ease the workload on his two spinners.

There was some appeal from the Bangladesh fielders for LBW against Shubman Gill but to no effect. The ball was missing the leg stump. Taijul is bowling some tight lines in a pursuit of a breakthrough.

India is likely to frustrate the Bangladesh bowlers for the whole third day if the likes of Pujara and Kohli follow the path of Rahul-Gill. Pure Test cricket mate?

The decision to not enforce the follow-on will enough justice if KL Rahul or Virat Kohli posts a great individual score here to overcome the criticism around their lack of runs in the red-ball format. It has particularly came in the spotlight after failing to add any impact in the first innings in this Test.

Indian openers are just clinging on to patience. No rush for shots. Just settle on the crease and punish the erred lengths. Perhaps they want to walk off the session without losing any wicket.
