India at the Commonwealth Games Results, 4 August 2022: Day 7 - Sudhir wins gold, Sreeshankar wins silver & more

Right then, that brings us to the end of the coverage from Day 7 of the Commonwealth Games 2022. Sudhir clinches a gold medal in the Men's Heavyweight Para-Powerlifting Final, while Sreeshankar bagged a silver medal in the Men's High Jump Final.

The Indian Men's Hockey Team finished atop the Pool B points table and made it to the semi-finals. Moreover, most of the Indian paddlers, shuttlers and squash players tasted success in their Round of 32 matches whereas a few tasted defeat as well. It was a day full of mixed emotions for the Indian contingent with several ups and downs.

GOLD FOR SUDHIR! Despite Sudhir failing to lift 217kg in his final attempt. He finishes at the top with 134.5 points and ends India's 2-day long wait for a gold medal. His best of 314.5 is a Commonwealth Games Record as well.

Sudhir lifts 212kg in his 2nd attempt. He regains his 1st place and is just one attempt away from winning gold.

He registers a foul jump in his final attempt. However, he clinches a SILVER MEDAL FOR INDIA! What a comeback from the Indian athlete.

Rohit Tokas defeats Xavier Mata'afa-Ikinofo 5 - 0 in his Men's 67kg quarter-final bout. He is through to the semis and is just one win away from winning a medal for India.

SQUASH: Women's Singles Round of 16 - Joshna Chinappa / Dipika Pallikal Karthik vs Meagan Best / Amanda Haywood

The Indian pair are through to the semis with a comfortable 2 - 0 victory against the Barbados duo. They won both games 11 - 4 and will look for a podium finish.

BADMINTON: Men's Singles Round of 32 - Vernon Smeed vs Lakshya Sen

Lakshaya Sen wins 2 - 0! He won the 1st game 21 - 4 and followed it up with a 21 - 5 win. The Indian shuttler proved to be a nightmare for Smeed as he was seen struggling at every single point of the game.

Sreeshankar registers a jump of 7.84 meters in his 2nd attempt. Meanwhile, Anees Yahiya gets his 1st legal jump of 7.65m.
