Mumbai had a strong start to the first half, opening the scoring in the 21st minute of the game through Mehtab Singh. Soon after, the Islanders were rewarded for their relentless effort as Jorge Pereyra Diaz doubled the lead.

In the second half, Kerala started strongly and their best chance came when Adrian Luna rattled the crossbar. Although the Blasters continued to press relentlessly, MCFC did well to negate the dangers and carry the two-goal lead over the line.

The win takes the undefeated Mumbai City FC second on the league table with eight points while Kerala Blasters are down in ninth place with three points. Ivan Vukomanovic's side have now suffered three consecutive defeats on the trot.

LINEUPS ARE OUT!

The Blasters will return to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi to welcome heavyweights Mumbai City FC in the 17th match of the ISL season. The Yellow Army began their campaign with a 3-1 victory over East Bengal before suffering losses at the hands of ATK Mohun Bagan and Odisha FC.

Meanwhile, the Islanders are yet to lose a game but have drawn two out of their three games so far. In their previous encounter, Jamshedpur FC held them to a 1-1 draw in a cagey affair.

With both sides hungry to return back to winning ways, this is expected to be a thrilling affair.
