The Islanders started the first half on the front foot with a thunderbolt strike from Lallianzuala Chhangte in the fourth minute. The Mariners created multiple opportunities themselves but failed to claw back into the game before the break.

While it seemed like the end-to-end action in the first half wouldn't be topped, the two sides had other plans.
