#4. More exposure for fighters competing on TUF
Another reason why Masvidal and Covington should coach TUF 30 is that they would provide more exposure for the fighters competing. With the animosity between the two coaches being the selling point, viewers will also get to know the fighters' backstories.
The UFC are constantly on the lookout for new fighters that could become marque stars for them. Having coaches like Masvidal and Covington involved with the show could help expedite that process. Under the tuteldge of their respective coaches, many fighters could end up becoming hot commodities for the promotion when TUF concludes.
With that in mind, the heavyweight and women's flyweight divisions could gain a boost in popularity following TUF 30. This formula has worked for the UFC in the past. TUF 10: Heavyweights featured high-profile coaches Rashad Evans and 'Rampage' Jackson, multiple fighters gained a following as a result.
Matt Mitrione and Brendan Schaub arguably benefited most from participating that season. The two weren't already known to the MMA community like Kimbo Slice and Roy Nelson. However, they took advantage of their participation on TUF and had some success during their careers, and in Schaub's case, post-career success as well.
#3. Coaches could display their showmanship on TUF
The showmanship put on display by the coaches is another reason why Masvidal and Covington should coach TUF 30. If both Masvidal and Covington coach TUF 30, the UFC would have both coaches bringing persona to the show.
Covington's heel persona still angers and offends a large portion of the fanbase, which plays right into his hands. 'Chaos' has been able to anger fans to the point where they'll tune in just to see him lose. Since taking on his persona, it has done wonders for his career thus far. Regardless of how fans view it, it's led to a lucrative career and there's no sign of him stopping anytime soon.
Masvidal being a promoter will come in handy during the season as well. 'Gamebred' promotes the bare-knuckle MMA promotion Gamebred Fighting Championship and could use those skills to promote the fighters on his team. Masvidal and Covington going back-and-forth promoting their respective fighters for each bout could be great bonus material for TUF.
