5 reasons why Vince McMahon dislikes the UFC

Vince probably doesn’t even know what it stands for

Vince McMahon is an unusual soul, and that's putting it kindly.

He's the king of the castle in the WWE and constantly gets himself caught up in this magical world that he's created. It's like an alternate reality that nobody outside of his bubble can see, which is why he doesn't take too kindly to intruders moving in and making a name for themselves.

We are, of course, referring to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Despite the two companies being a part of two completely different industries, Vince appears to have developed some form of hatred towards the world of mixed martial arts and UFC. It's never been fully confirmed or denied, but there's enough evidence there to suggest that good old Vinnie Mac doesn’t have a lot of affection for the UFC.

After all, there's been so many opportunities in the past for the two parties to do business together and only a few of them have been taken.

Whilst some may argue that there are only a select few things that you can accomplish through such a potential partnership, it would still be nice to see Vince keep more of an open mind about these kinds of things.

With that being said, here are five reasons why Vince McMahon dislikes the UFC:

#1 Brock Lesnar

Brock’s MMA career has caused Vince some problems

You all knew this one was coming. If mixed martial arts and the UFC didn't exist, there's a very real possibility that Lesnar would've had a lot more years in the WWE than he has had to this day.

After leaving the company, Brock made a real name for himself in the sport of MMA by becoming the UFC Heavyweight Champion in an incredibly short space of time. In addition to that, Vince was also given an extra headache when Brock decided to go back to fight for the organisation at UFC 200.

It must've caused the boss a great deal of money and stress knowing that if Brock got knocked out, it could have seriously damaged the credibility of the Beast on WWE television. Looking back, we can see that while Brock did win (despite the victory being overturned later), so Vince just barely made it out of that one.

Speaking of making it out...

#2 CM Punk

Punk
Will the two ever resolve their differences?

Vince McMahon would probably be happy to never hear the words “CM Punk” said ever again.

After the former WWE Champion left the company due to a number of reasons, few could have expected him to make the move over to the UFC, but that's exactly what he did. Unfortunately for Vince, that also meant that a lot of interviewers would continue to pick away at Punk's past in the WWE.

More and more issues regarding his tenure with the company were revealed, and with Punk in such a featured spot once again, it continued to make the WWE look even worse considering the allegations that he had made on Colt Cabana's podcast.

One thing's for sure - it'll take a lot making up for Vince to ever welcome the Straight Edge Superstar back into the company.

Now onto a point that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

#3 Competition

Vince knows they’re a threat

Vince McMahon certainly sees the UFC as tough competition, following their sensational rise over the last few years.

We aren't saying that it makes much sense, but Vince has a tendency to always grow to hate the opposition, as we've seen in the past with his wars against WCW. If you need proof, then just look towards the fact that he even offered to fight Dana White a few years back!

Despite them being two completely different sports, they're still considered to be direct rivals.

With the crossovers of Brock Lesnar and CM Punk into the UFC, we can imagine that there must have been some controversy backstage, and we can also picture Vince being a tad overdramatic about those situations.

"Wait - they actually fight?"

#4 Confusion

“So is it fake?”

Referencing back to Mr Punk once again, he stated on the Colt Cabana podcast that Vince honestly believed that people died inside of the octagon.

He considered it to be the most barbaric thing imaginable, despite that fact that more competitors have died as a result of competing inside of the squared circle as opposed to cage fighting.

We aren't sure if he's angry about the concept of it or the fact that people would choose to watch it over his product, but his confusion regarding the whole issue needs to be put straight because he can't keep going on with this kind of mentality.

Hell, if we've learned anything over the years then we would've assumed that Vince would love watching two guys beat each other up for the better part of 15 minutes!

We conclude with something that may well rub the chairman the wrong way.

#5 Shane was right

Shane gets it

Way back around 2008 or 2009, Shane McMahon was reportedly trying to convince his father to purchase the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Yup, that's a thing. Just a few years prior to it actually being sold for over $4 billion, the price of the company was reportedly very reasonable and Shane was desperately attempting to get Vince to invest in the project.

Unfortunately, Vince didn't see any real point in it, and we can imagine that acknowledging his son was correct about the whole issue rubs him the wrong way a little bit.

In fact, Shane was even considering investing himself as opposed to joining up with his father. Can you imagine, for a second, a WWE-themed UFC event? Velasquez vs Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Championship in a No Holds Barred match? Yes please!
