5 reasons why WWE will not take CM Punk back from UFC

CM Punk

Punk’s future does not lie in the squared circle

When CM Punk walked away from professional wrestling, the world was stunned.

After years of feeling underappreciated and undervalued, the Straight-Edge Superstar finally walked out of the door and to this day has never gone back. Many people believe that one day he probably will, but we don't think that's the case.

Many big names have had some serious problems with WWE and Vince McMahon, only to end up returning, but the bridges appear to have been well and truly burned when it comes to good old Phil Brooks.

The now-UFC fighter appears to be enjoying life in the octagon, and when you look at his track record it makes a lot of sense to consider that he won't be re-entering the squared circle anytime soon.

If you're a fan of the guy then we apologise in advance, but the evidence is all there.

It's not just one-sided either because WWE probably aren't overly interested in the prospect themselves. People seem to have this image of Vince crying himself to sleep every night about Punk leaving, but in reality, it seems like that couldn't be further from the truth.

With that being said, let's take a look at five reasons why WWE will not take CM Punk back from UFC.

#1 Injury prone

Punk’s injuries are starting to pile up

If you've heard some of the comments that Punk has come out with since leaving, in addition to his UFC tenure so far, you'll know that the guy has picked up a fair few injuries over the years.

Whilst it may not necessarily indicate frailties, you can't deny that it raises a few eyebrows about Punk's durability both in the squared circle as well as the octagon.

If he were to return to WWE, there would be a lot of worry among management regarding just how much he'd have left in the tank for another run in the company. Given how much stock they put into their big events, if Punk was to get injured before one of the big four Vince probably wouldn't take too kindly to that.

After all, his relationship with the WWE's medical staff isn't superb.

Back over to the UFC now for something of a sore subject.

#2 UFC 203 loss

CM Punk Mickey Gall

Not a good experience for Punk

Let's not beat around the bush here - CM Punk was embarrassed at UFC 203. Dana put him up against a talented youngster in Mickey Gall that choked him out within two minutes of the first round, leading all the haters to come out and say "I told you so".

Whether you were rooting for Punk or not, there's no denying that this was a heavy defeat for the self-proclaimed Best in the World.

It's likely that WWE and specifically Vince were watching the fight and upon losing, Punk's stock immediately dropped. If he ever returned it's not like they could pretend that the loss didn't happen, and at the same time there's no real benefit to mentioning it on live TV.

After all, it's not like they've said Ronda Rousey's name a whole lot since her back to back world title losses either.

Now to something that's a tad more controversial.

#3 Cabana podcast

CM Punk Colt Cabana

Punk took things to a whole new level with the Cabana podcast

When CM Punk recorded a two-hour long podcast with Colt Cabana on November 27th 2014, the internet went into meltdown.

The former WWE Champion revealed all about his departure from the company, going into detail about what was said the night he left in Cleveland in addition to many of the reasons that led him to make the final decision.

It was long, it was fascinating and it was extremely controversial, to say the least. The impact of some of Punk's comments has been felt to this day, with making "Roman look strong" being a particular tool that the IWC use when berating The Big Dog.

There was so much to take in and many people had to re-listen two or three times in order to fully digest it. It goes without saying, but the WWE won't even want to think about Punk after that.

Speaking of which, here's something that came as a direct result from the podcast.

#4 Lawsuit

CM Punk Chris Amann

Punk and Amann’s lawsuit seems to still be ongoing

Lawsuits are never fun things to talk about, but it's definitely one of the most important factors to consider here.

Following some of Punk's comments regarding his staph infection towards the back end of the podcast, Dr Chris Amann sued the former WWE superstar in a lawsuit that is supposedly still ongoing to this day.

There hasn't really been any kind of public resolution, but it's something that WWE definitely won't want to get involved in any more than they already are.

You can't blame them for that either because, for all we know as outsiders looking in, this thing could last for over another year or so. If you're vying for Punk to be back in the ring soon, you may want to find a new hero.

We finish up with something that's been an ongoing issue for a while now.

#5 Fan pressure

CM Punk

Punk’s fanbase is pretty ruthless

CM Punk was one of the most popular superstars in WWE history and that's a fact. The former leader of the Straight Edge Society had a memorable run with the company that started over a decade ago, and during that time fans certainly became attached to him in more ways than one. As a result, they can tend to be quite overprotective.

So if Punk came back, the pressure on Vince to book him as strongly as they possibly can will be unreal. Fans will voice their support week in and week out for Punk and the second something happens that the WWE Universe don't approve of, they'll see fit to try and hijack the entire show.

WWE don't want that kind of risk, especially from someone as volatile as CM Punk.
