Fans of Shavkat Rakhmonov seem to have found their new prey and it's his next potential opponent, Belal Muhammad.
Following the UFC 286 pay-per-view where Leon Edwards retained the welterweight title, Dana White announced that a bout between Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov is in the works. While 'Remember The Name' was hoping to get a title shot next, he is now being pitted against the surging unbeaten Kazakh phenom.
Interestingly, fans of Rakhmonov are eager to see the fight come to fruition and have flooded Muhammad's Instagram.
This is not the first time that Shavkat Rakhmonov's fan army has flooded the comment section of another fighter.
The same happened recently with Colby Covington's Instagram after the Kazakh fighter expressed his desire to fight 'Chaos'. A fight between Rakhmonov and Covington now seems unlikely, with Dana White revealing that the former interim champion will fight for the title next.
Belal Muhammad opens up about Colby Covington getting the next title shot
Belal Muhammad isn't happy about Colby Covington getting a title shot ahead of him.
Covington has not fought in over a year and his last outing was against No.12-ranked Jorge Masvidal. On top of that, 'Chaos' has already fought for the title twice and failed on both occasions. On the flipside, Muhammad is on an eight-fight winning streak, but still finds himself outside title contention.
In a recent episode on The Anik and Florian Podcast, Muhammad expressed his frustrations at not being able to fight for the UFC welterweight championship despite winning 12 of his last 13 fights. Suggesting that he should be the one fighting Leon Edwards for the title next, 'Remember The Name' said:
"You have to respect the work I’ve put in, what I’ve gone through. I’m on an eight-fight winning streak, I’ve won 12 of my last 13 fights... I’m beating ranked guys. I have more ranked wins than the champion... I have the fourth-longest winning streak in the history of the division, and I’m not even being mentioned in the title contention... It just doesn’t make any sense.”
