ESPN has shockingly lowered the pay-per-view price for Devin Haney vs. Vasiliy Lomachenko.

'The Dream' has been out of action since his rematch with George Kambosos Jr. last October. In that outing, Haney outpointed 'The Emperor' for the second straight fight en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Along with that, the unified lightweight champion was able to clear his schedule for a clash with 'Loma'. Later that month, the Ukrainian picked up a decision victory over Jamaine Ortiz, helping set the stage for the lightweight clash.

The matchup is currently slated for May 20th in Las Vegas, and the bout will be broadcast on ESPN pay-per-view. Given that the lightweight title fight is expected to be one of the biggest of the year, many fans are likely expected to pay a hefty price to watch the bout.

However, that won't be the case, as ESPN has lowered the pay-per-view price for Devin Haney vs. Vasiliy Lomachenko. In a recent interview with BoxingScene, Bob Arum explained that they thought bringing the price down from the standard to $79.99 or $85.99 to $59.99 would increase interest.

In the interview, he stated:

“We studied this with ESPN. and we determined that this fight had enough interest that if we went with a [price point] that was less than what everybody else was charging that we would make up for it by an increased number of buys. Now whether that happens or doesn’t happen remains to be seen. But all I know is that anybody that calls themselves a boxing fan, they have to watch this fight. And that’s the determination we made setting the price for the pay-per-view.”

Devin Haney vs. Vasiliy Lomachenko: Betting Odds

Devin Haney vs. Vasily Lomachenko currently sees 'The Dream' as the betting favorite.

The matchup has been long in the making and also has a lot of history behind it. Haney won the title from George Kambosos Jr. last June, however, he wasn't supposed to be in the ring that night.

Originally, 'Loma' was set to face 'The Emperor' in Australia for all the gold. However, due to enlisting in the Ukrainian army after Russia's invasion, he saw his title shot go to Haney, and the rest is history.

Ahead of his return, Vasiliy Lomachenko is determined to rewrite the past and become champion. However, oddsmakers aren't as impressed as the former titleholder currently sits as a +210 underdog. Meanwhile, Haney returns as the -270 betting favorite for the lightweight showdown.
