A former UFC champion revisited the time a training partner almost got fatally injured. Elsewhere, Joe Rogan was warned by a Ukrainian boxer that he was falling for "Russian propaganda."

Here are today's top combat sports updates, presented by Sportskeeda MMA.

Former UFC star Frank Mir recollects nearly killing Jason 'Mayhem' Miller during training

During a recent appearance on the JAXXON Podcast, Frank Mir shared how he almost "killed" Jason 'Mayhem' Miller by accident during a training session.

The former UFC champion, while taking pride in not going easy on training partners, shared a story where Miller could've ended up badly injured:

"We were training at Marc Laimon’s... I had 'Mayhem' and I put him in a guillotine and he almost killed himself. He ran his feet up the f*cking cage and almost tried to flip over the top of me. It was weird. So then I let it go and then I got him in a kimura and I applied it. I started going and cranking it and I was like, 'I ain't letting go. F*ck this. Today you’re going to learn!' So I put his hand to the back of his head."

Joe Rogan accused of falling for "Russian propaganda"

Joe Rogan recently criticized Joe Biden's decision to allow Ukraine to launch U.S.-backed long-distance ballistic weapons, the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) targeting Russia's military bases. Reflecting the alarming worries of many, the UFC commentator stated that this could very well trigger the start of World War III.

Reacting to Rogan's comments, Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko dismissed any such concerns and accused him of undermining his homeland's democratic rights:

"Joe Rogan, I listened to your latest podcast... You talk about these American weapons being sent to Ukraine, which you believe will lead to the Third World War. So, let me tell you that you're repeating Russian propaganda.
"[Vladimir] Putin’s Russia is in trouble, so they want to scare you and people like you. His war was supposed to last 3 days. It has lasted 3 years thanks to the heroism and sacrifice of my people. So you are using the only weapon that Putin really intends to use: propaganda. This weapon really weakens our democracies... A great America is not an America that abandons countries that defend freedom with their lives."

Francis Ngannou on Jon Jones superfight: "It's not what we want"

There has been a lot of mudslinging surrounding the Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou fight. A long time in the making, the fight never came to fruition while 'The Predator' was still in the UFC; and now, a cross-promotional endeavor with PFL almost seems impossible. On top of that, UFC CEO Dana White is not a big fan of the rival promotion or the people who run the show.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, the former UFC heavyweight champion said he is still interested in the contest, but knows it is unlikely to happen:

"[Jon Jones] is in the promotion deal and I'm in the promotion deal and if those two promotions come along, and can figure out a way. Us talking about [who is the] established champion would not help. I think for right now, his only options [are] in his roster and my options are in my roster.
"That's just how it is. It's not what we want or would like to have. It doesn't matter much, but the reality is we both know we both want this fight, for sure."
