Fabricio Andrade believes having a Brazilian world champion would be good for ONE Championship’s business after partnering with Globo, Latin America’s largest commercial television network.

ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced the news last month in a post on Facebook:

“BREAKING NEWS: ONE just got even bigger! I am thrilled to announce that Globo is the new home of ONE in Brazil! Globo is the largest commercial television network in Latin America, with a reach of more than 200 million viewers across its free-to-air, digital, and pay TV channels.”

In an interview with The MMA Super Fan, Andrade discussed ONE’s signing with Globo and his belief that the promotion wants a Brazilian world champion in the bantamweight division:

“When ONE puts the fight on because they need a world champion and they want like a Brazilian world champion especially after they signed the contract with Globo in Brazil. This division is run by Brazilians. Me, Bibiano, John Lineker.”

With Fabricio Andrade, John Lineker, and ONE legend Bibiano Fernandes at the forefront of the bantamweight division, a safe bet would be on one of the iconic Brazilians becoming the next owner of the currently vacated ONE bantamweight world title.

Like Fabricio Andrade, John Lineker is excited about ONE Championship’s partnership with Globo

Former ONE bantamweight world champion John ‘Hands of Stone’ Lineker is thrilled with the recent announcement that ONE Championship has partnered with Globo in Brazil to bring its events closer to fans in the country.

Not only is it great exposure for the promotion, but Lineker believes it will open the door for many Brazilian fighters who are yet to get exposure in their homeland:

“This partnership will certainly be good not only for Brazilian fighters, but also for ONE, as the event will open doors in yet another market and grow even more. With this partnership with Combate, fans will be able to follow more. And Brazilian fighters will have more visibility and opportunity with the arrival of ONE in Combate.”

The top-ranked Brazilian bantamweights are in the middle of a fiery feud for the bantamweight world championship. After their highly-entertaining contest ended in anti-climactic controversy at ONE on Prime Video 3, ‘Hands of Stone’ and Fabricio Andrade appear to be destined to scrap inside the Circle one more time to settle the score.
