The hunting season begins for former ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon Singha Mawynn at ONE Fight Night 11 on Friday, June 9.

After three consecutive wins under the ONE Championship banner, the Thai athlete’s unbeatable streak was brought to an end by Chingiz Allazov at ONE Fight Night 6 in January this year.

As he aims to get back to winning ways – and possibly another shot at gold – if he defeats Tayfun Ozcan at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, next month, let’s look at three reasons why you should be stoked for his return.

#3. He’s a crowd-pleaser

Ask anyone about Superbon, and they’d all probably tell you the same thing – he’s one of the humblest athletes on the face of the earth.

The lifelong martial artist may be known for his vicious kicks, knees, and flying knees inside the ring and ONE circle. However, outside of it, he’s a warrior with a heart of gold.

Superbon has learned his craft from some of the most feared strikers in the world. Among them being, Buakaw, Nong-O Hama, Petchtanong, and Trainer Gae.

They have not only equipped him with a complete arsenal to destroy any opponent on the ONE stage, but they’ve also given him tips on how to learn, practice, and exhibit the moral values that come with the sport.

#2. He’s a technical genius

A technical, kick-heavy fighter, Superbon brings an exemplary control of range and distance to each of his fights. Oftentimes, sticking to the barest of basics to power him to victory.

The Singha Mawynn representative has plenty of firepower in his fists, deploying his solid boxing combinations alongside his roundhouse kicks and lightning-quick knees from close quarters.

Apart from his supreme offensive skill set, the 32-year-old has a solid defensive catalog at his disposal. A prime example of his all-around arsenal is when he knocked out Giorgio Petrosyan to claim the inaugural featherweight kickboxing crown.

While many favored the Italian legend to triumph, given his world-class defense, the Thai had other ideas, as he stunned ‘The Doctor’ with a head kick KO on his way to gold.

#1. He’s a man on a mission

There’s nothing that Superbon wants more than the 26 pounds of ONE gold.

And with that on the back of his mind, expect the striking dynamo to put out one of his best performances against Tayfun Ozcan at ONE Fight Night 11.

Sure, Ozcan wants to put the division’s top dogs on notice with a statement win against the former kingpin, but he’ll need to stay sharp throughout the scheduled nine-minute war if Superbon does not put him to sleep early.

Fans in the U.S. or Canada can watch the fight card live and for free with an Amazon Prime membership.
