Conor McGregor pleads innocence and reaffirms commitment to octagon return

Despite the backlash from the verdict, Conor McGregor pleaded his innocence and reaffirmed his commitment to returning to the octagon.

McGregor recently took to his X account and expressed his regret for his decision making that night in 2018, but noted that it was a consensual encounter and he intended to appeal. The Irishman also mentioned that he is focused on his UFC career, which could be a positive sign:

"As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all the witnesses present swore to that under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision. I can't go back and I will move forward. I am beyond grateful to my family, friends and supporters all over the world who have stayed by my side. That's it. No more. Getting back to the gym- the fight game awaits!"
