Cain Velasquez was granted $1 million bail on Tuesday after being detained for eight months for attempted murder and 10 other gun-related charges in Santa Clara County, California.

In fresh developments from the ongoing legal battle, reports have now emerged that the hearings for the accused child molester, Harry Goularte, and Velasquez have now been postponed until 2023 because the district attorney's office is unable to contact his mother.

The court proceedings and documents were brought to light by MMA Junkie. Goularte's mother, Patricia, ran the Goularte Patty in San Martin, California, where her son allegedly molested Velasquez's four-year-old son.

According to Philbrook, Patricia was summoned to appear as a witness by the DA's office. However, she failed to show up on Monday and did not answer or return phone calls.

Judge Nishigaya has now imparted a body warrant attachment wherein, if she fails to make it to the next hearing scheduled for January 17, 2023, a bench warrant will be issued to take her into custody.

Velasquez’s civil attorney, Warren Paboojian, claimed that Patricia Goularte attempted to avoid service when contacted by them on six different occasions.

As for Cain Velasquez, the former two-time UFC heavyweight champion is required to wear a GPS monitor and is forbidden to come within 300 yards of Goularte and his relatives.

Daniel Cormier claims Cain Velasquez has developed a newfound appreciation for life after being released on bail

Daniel Cormier was at the forefront of raising objections over Cain Velasquez being charged with attempted premeditated murder and multiple gun assaults.

The former UFC multi-division champion wrote a letter to the Santa Clara County Superior Court in support of his teammate and friend when Velasquez was convicted.

Speaking about the retired UFC heavyweight on a recent reunion episode with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Cormier stated that Velasquez has developed a newfound appreciation for the finer things in life after being released on bail:

"I think one of the most telling things that Cain told me when we were in there, he goes, ‘As I sit here and I’m eating this food and I’m taking stuff from the commissary and I’m trying to live, I think back to my pantry and I can’t imagine I can have any of this, whenever I want it."

Cormier added:

"Something you probably walk past every day in your house and take for granted, don’t even close the door on the pantry. He’s just like, ‘I can’t believe that when I was living [on the outside] I could have whatever I wanted, anytime I wanted, and it’s so much.’ Because it was so limited there. I’m just happy for him to be back.”
