"Are you sure this time?" - Fans unconvinced following Jon Jones' "#Champion2023" Tweet

Jon Jones has not fought in the octagon since his controversial win against Dominick Reyes in 2020. His reported return to action is one of the most anticipated things this year.

He has consistently posted training montages of himself on social media and took to Twitter yet again to signal his intentions of challenging for a title this year.

Jones tweeted:

Fans reacted to the tweet and asked the former light heavyweight champion if he was certain by quoting a 2012 article where he stated a 2013 move up to the heavyweight division. 'Bones' is yet to move up to the heaviest division, but has been clear about his plan to do so upon return.

"Are you sure this time?"

Another fan commented that Jones would be no match for heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and No.1 contender Ciryl Gane.

"sorry but I think @francis_ngannou and @ciryl_gane are above you ,in any case, I can't wait to see Francis again and that Ciryl is a new chance for the Title"

Other fans used memes to reference Jones' substance abuse record and joked that he would only be winning a 'keyboard warriors' belt.

Fans also demanded that Jones just return to the ring before doling out any bold predictions. They also referenced his earlier promise of the championship in 2022.

A Stephen A. Smith meme also featured with the fan citing disbelief over Jon Jones' tweet.

Jon Jones speaks about facing Francis Ngannou for the heavyweight championship

Jon Jones' reported heavyweight debut will be for the title against heavyweight champion and the strongest puncher in the world, Francis Ngannou.

Jones spoke about his approach to a fight with such an intimidating opponent.

"With Francis Ngannou, it's very simple. Get comfortable with the worst-case scenario. Worst-case scenario is he knocks you the f**k out. He possibly fractures a bone in your face. That's the worst-case scenario. You get really comfortable with that idea and then it becomes easy.

"If he doesn't knock you out and break your face, you're smart, you're fast, you have a chin, you have great head movement, you can wrestle. There's a lot of ways things can play out."

Jones highlighted his strengths and emphasized on putting them to good use and negating the strength of Ngannou by being smarter.
