Belal Muhammad recently weighed in on the UFC welterweight GOAT debate and where he believes he belongs on the legendary list. He noted that the division has gone through different eras of dominant champions and that he'd like to be included in that when his reign is over.

'Remember the Name' earned a unanimous decision over Leon Edwards to win the welterweight championship at UFC 304 this past July. Since then, there has been speculation on who he will defend his title against next, especially considering his back and forth with former champion Kamaru Usman on social media.

During his appearance on Submission Radio, the reigning welterweight champion shared his thoughts on the progression of the 170-pound division. Muhammad mentioned that he believes he is a better fighter than Usman and expressed interest in surpassing past champions in terms of title defenses. He said:

"I just think that all these fighters had their moments in their different eras. Right now, my era is with Usman and I think I'm better than Usman. And when I look at him and I look at my fights, I was always chasing him, right? Because he was the one on top, so I always had my style and I always thought my style could beat him...I always put gold as the goal, now GOAT is the goal." [7:49 - 8:22]

Belal Muhammad expresses interest in moving to middleweight for bout against Sean Strickland

In addition to weighing on the welterweight GOAT discussion, Belal Muhammad expressed interest in putting those plans on hold in order to fight Sean Strickland at middleweight.

The two appear to have a beef with each other, so a fight would certainly be logical if 'Remember the Name' were to move up to 185 pounds.

During the aforementioned interview, Muhammad mentioned that he would be confident in his chances against Strickland. He said:

"If it's Sean, I would definitely want that fight and I would beg for that fight. I don't think he's gonna be touching gold anymore, he sucks...I'd slap him around. I'd literally go in there and I'd slap him around...When I think of tough fights, Sean's not one of them. I think he would be an easy fight for me."
