Bobby Green believes that Islam Makhachev could be on performance-enhancing drugs.

Makhachev has dominated his way to the UFC lightweight world championship since making his debut in the promotion in 2015. The Russian capped off his 11-fight win streak by defeating Charles Oliveira to win the title in October.

During the UFC Vegas 66 media day, Bobby Green was discussing the new champion and had this to say:

"I found this little video [on YouTube], and it said Islam [Makhachev] had a little trouble with drugs, but I don’t see people talking about him. He was saying when he first came over, that his school he trained at in Russia, they just gave him vitamins... Imagine if you gave someone steroids from the age of 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, how strong you would be?"

Green then explained how he trained with thousands of fighters, but several had a different type of strength. He labeled Makhachev as one of those fighters by saying:

“I told my coach there’s something interesting about Islam. I felt it. It’s not human. It makes sense.”

The longtime UFC veteran has first-hand experience with Makhachev's power. Before beating Oliveira at UFC 280, the Russian beat Green on short notice in February. Since then, ‘King’ endured a six-month USADA suspension for DHEA. He now returns at UFC Vegas 66 against Drew Dober.

Bobby Green says it’s strictly business when fighting at the UFC APEX

Bobby Green fought in the UFC APEX in his last fight against Islam Makahchev. The 31-year-old fought in three stadiums before fighting Makhachev. During the UFC Vegas 66 media day, Green had this to say about returning to the APEX to fight Drew Dober:

“So, I feel like I was getting this new buzz. I’m feeding off that. Then you guys put me in the APEX with Islam trying to kill me. Alright, whatever. Now I’m back in the APEX again, where I can’t get that buzz again… I’m gonna go out there, I’m not even gonna do my jump in the cage or none of that. It’s business… When ya’ll put me in front of crowds, then I’ll do my show.”

Green has become a fan favorite for his honest personality and gameness in the octagon. Although he’s lost some time with his USADA suspension, ‘King’ has an opportunity to make a statement against Dober on December 17.
