Darren Till was recently cut from the UFC roster, likely bringing an end to a journey that had once seemed immensely promising.

The Liverpudlian previously told ESPN that he had asked for his release from the UFC earlier this year due to health issues. Till was released from the promotion last night along with lightweight Zubaira Tukhugov and bantamweight Jose Johnson.

'The Gorilla' has now revealed why he asked to be released from the promotion. Darren Till initially injured his knee during a decision loss to Robert Whittaker in 2020 that started a three-fight skid. Till has since been having trouble with both his knees, although he has long tried to deny it.

'The Gorilla' even admitted that he shouldn't have fought his last fight against Dricus du Plessis with his fragile knees. Till now wants to take some time off to focus on his lingering knee issues, which might need certain injections to be administered.

The Englishman feels that all the drugs required to nurse his knees might not pass the USADA screening. Till recently told ESPN's Brett Okamoto:

"I want to get some injections in my knee and really take care of my knees. Some of the stuff I want to inject into my knee, am I going to pass some of these [UFC anti-doping drug] tests? There are a lot of hurdles. Maybe I'll get [knee] surgery."

Darren Till future plans: 'The Gorilla' says his phone has "blown to pieces" with offers since UFC exit

Darren Till wants to return to the UFC after he fully takes care of his health. 'The Gorilla' now wants to try out other ventures, mostly striking, for approximately a couple of years.

However, UFC exec Hunter Campbell, who has been hounding Till to take care of his knee for good, didn't approve of the Englishman's career plan. While Campbell told Till that the UFC is not very enthusiastic about taking fighters back, 'The Gorilla' has vowed to change Campbell's opinion.

Meanwhile, Till's phone has allegedly been buzzing frequently after news of his UFC release. Asked if he has received any boxing or other offers, the Englishman further told Brett Okamoto:

"At my phone, it's absolutely blown to pieces mate. I mean I've had offer, like 'offers' but I'm not worried right now... Listen mate, I'm a clever individual, I'm a clever young man, I've got a plan in place. And I'm gonna execute it and this is all gonna work."
