The UFC has rebooked the previously scheduled fight between Nikita Krylov and Ryan Spann. Krylov was initially set to face Spann in a five-round light heavyweight bout, which was to serve as the headliner for the UFC Fight Night 220 event on February 25, 2023.

However, on the day of the fight, Krylov fell ill due to a food-related health issue, causing the matchup to be canceled. A middleweight bout between Brendan Allen and Andre Muniz served as the event's new headliner.

Regardless, the consensus was that the UFC would reschedule the Krylov-Spann showdown for a later date. On that note, the promotion has now made an announcement via its official Twitter account, asserting that the fight will transpire at the UFC Fight Night 221 event on March 11, 2023.

The UFC's tweet reads:

"Rebooked and 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐘 for Saturday 💪 @KrylovUFC vs @Superman_Spann goes down this weekend! [ #UFCLasVegas | March 11 | Main Card 6pmET | LIVE on @ESPNPlus ]"

As noted, the Krylov-Spann booking was originally a five-round light heavyweight bout, i.e., a 205-pound bout, which would've headlined the UFC Fight Night 220 event on February 25.

However, the rescheduled Krylov-Spann matchup will be a three-round catchweight bout contested at 215 pounds. The clash, which will transpire on March 11, won't headline the UFC Fight Night 221 event. Nevertheless, it will serve as one of the featured matchups on the fight card.

Nikita Krylov talks about the illness that canceled his main event fight against Ryan Spann

Nikita Krylov's most recent fight was a unanimous-decision victory over Volkan Oezdemir in October 2022. Meanwhile, Ryan Spann is fresh off a first-round KO win against Dominick Reyes in November 2022.

The No. 6-ranked UFC light heavyweight Krylov and the No. 8-ranked Spann are on two-fight win streaks.

During the UFC Fight Night 221 media day before the upcoming fight, Nikita Krylov addressed the food poisoning incident that caused him to withdraw from his originally scheduled bout. Krylov suggested that a dish he had on the day of the fight contained eggs that were probably stale.

Apparently, Krylov didn't have a refrigerator in his hotel room and had kept the dish in the room since the previous evening, which probably spoiled it. Recalling that his body temperature shot up soon after consuming the dish, Krylov stated:

"My temperature stay higher. I feel big discomfort inside. We came to the [UFC] Apex, work with doctor. He give me one pill, after one more pill. We tried to do all that I can [to] fight. But I couldn't do it."
