Conor McGregor is recently back in the gym for his first sparring session, which has caught the attention of fans worldwide. Many expressed their excitement, while some bashed McGregor, implying that the double champion has lost his touch.
McGregor hasn't competed in three years due to a leg injury sustained during the Dustin Poirier fight at UFC 264 in July 2021. The Irishman then served as a coach opposite Michael Chandler on The Ultimate Fighter 31.
The two fighters were scheduled to compete against each other in a welterweight bout at UFC 303. 'The Notorious,' however, was forced to withdraw from the fight due to a toe injury he suffered while training.
In the wake of his highly anticipated octagon return, McGregor recently took to Instagram and shared clips of him sparring following his recovery from the toe injury. He captioned the post:
''First spar back, off we go again''

John Kavanagh addresses Conor McGregor's octagon return
Although Conor McGregor's much-awaited return to the octagon is still in the air, SBG Ireland head John Kavanagh recently commented on McGregor's comeback.
Kavanagh expressed his desire to see McGregor fight in December in a recent interview with Lucky Block, despite Dana White's assertions that the former lightweight champion won't return this year. Kavanagh said:
''He’s [McGregor] got some training partners over there and the footage I’m getting back, he shared some of it recently, he’s looking very sharp to me. If the date was in December, it would be a green light for me anyway.”
