Chris Weidman recently opened up about not receiving the fight money for a canceled bout. Weidman argued that he should be compensated even if his opponent withdraws from the fight, since he showed up for the fight.
For context, Weidman was scheduled to face Eryk Anders at UFC 309, however, just hours prior to their middleweight bout, Anders withdrew himself out of the contest after suffering from food poisoning.
Weidman resorted to social media to voice his disappointment after the UFC broadcast team announced that their fight would not be taking place during the pay-per-view event.
During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Weidman discussed not getting paid for the fight which was eventually called off.
Given the success of UFC 309, Weidman said he was upset with the promotion for not giving him the fight money. AFeldmanMMA took to X and shared 'The All-American's' remarks, which said:
''My show money is my win money. I have guaranteed money. So that was my point—like, I showed up, you guys had that on the budget sheet to begin with, you guys had a great night, why do you guys get to keep that money and I don’t? That was my thought. Their thoughts were, ‘Listen, this happens on like 40% of the cards, and if we paid people to not fight…’ They just want to be consistent on what they do in those situations.”

Weidman's last octagon outing at UFC Atlantic City earlier this year ended in a controversial fashion. The 40-year-old secured an unanimous decision win against Bruno Silva, however Silva accused Weidman of intentional eye pokes which led to his defeat.
Meanwhile, Anders was coming off an unanimous decision victory over Jamie Pickett at UFC Vegas 87.
Chris Weidman wants to face Eryk Anders at UFC 310
Chris Weidman was disappointed when his scheduled opponent Eryk Anders, withdrew prior to the start of UFC 309 due to illness.
However, according to multiple sources, the promotion intends to rebook Weidman against Anders at a 195-pound catchweight bout at UFC 310 on Dec. 7. Notably, 'The All-American' posted an edited picture of their bout at UFC 310, writing:
