Christian Lee reveals his New Year’s resolution and goal for 2023

Without question, Christian Lee was one of the fighters of the year in 2022.

‘The Warrior’ came into the year off of a loss that saw Ok Rae Yoon claim his lightweight world title. Lee’s first goal for the year was to avenge that defeat and take back his world title. He did just that with one of the best performances of 2022.

Stopping his opponent in the second round, Lee was able to make a quick turnaround following his near-perfect display at ONE 160.

Just three months later, Lee claimed another world championship when he defeated Kiamrian Abbasov at ONE on Prime Video 4. With one of the comebacks of the year, ‘The Warrior’ survived a relentless opening round from Abbasov and went on to finish him in the fourth.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Christian Lee spoke about his New Year’s resolutions and plans for 2023:

“Every New Year, it’s pretty much the same, just be the best version of myself that I can possibly be. Always try to do better.... My goal for next year is to defend both of my belts and keep both of them.”

Christian Lee looks back at his five-round war with Kiamrian Abbasov

At ONE on Prime Video 4, Christian Lee produced one of the greatest comebacks ever seen in ONE Championship to win a second world title. Despite claiming double-champion status within the space of three months, Lee believes he could have done better.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Lee shared his thoughts on his champion vs. champion main event with former welterweight king Kiamrian Abbasov:

“Looking back, I still feel like I could’ve done much better at that fight. I feel like if I was fighting at my full potential that night, I could’ve finished him in the first round. But I had that early knockdown by Abbasov, and that kinda set me back a little bit. It turned the fight into a war which I was prepared for anyways.”

‘The Warrior’ was forced to live up to his nickname in the opening round of his fight with Abbasov. The bigger and stronger man was able to land his power on Lee and seemed to be on the verge of finishing his challenger.

After Abbasov emptied out the gas tank to try and finish Christian Lee, the fight began to turn in the challenger’s favor. He outworked his opponent, made him brawl with him and got the stoppage in the fourth round.
