Claressa Shields has chimed in on Dmitry Bivol's ex-wife openly celebrating Bivol's defeat against Artur Beterbiev. 'T-Rex' seemingly disapproved of the act and condemned her.
America's Shields is a two-time Olympic gold medalist pugilist. The 29-year-old, who's a five-weight world champion as a professional boxer, often puts forth her opinions on the fight game and beyond.
Meanwhile, Russia's Bivol is a former WBA (Super) light heavyweight champion. Bivol came into his latest fight as the WBA champion against Russian-Canadian Artur Beterbiev who entered as the WBC, WBO, and IBF light heavyweight champion.
Their undisputed title clash headlined a 'Riyadh Season' boxing card at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Oct. 12, 2024. It witnessed Beterbiev win a razor-thin majority decision, become boxing's four-belt era's first undisputed light heavyweight champion, and hand Bivol his first pro boxing defeat.
A video of Ekaterina Bivol, Dmitry Bivol's ex-wife, reacting to the fight on a livestream has garnered considerable attention since.
The video seemingly shows her cheering for Artur Beterbiev, lambasting Dmitry, and later addressing viewers while speaking about his defeat. The translated version of some of her comments reads as follows (*Translation courtesy: @HappyPunch on X):
"Artur! Karma caught up with him ... Well, guys, karma caught up with that a**hole. Artur, I'm happy for you. Now my fight is in court."

For years, Ekaterina Bivol was considered an important part of Dmitry Bivol's training camps as well as his personal life. They reportedly met on a flight in 2007 and got married in 2013. However, the couple got divorced in 2023. Ekaterina subsequently accused Dmitry of perpetrating domestic violence, stealing, cheating, and other crimes against her.
Some believe Ekaterina's celebration of Dmitry's defeat is a continuation of her public campaign against him ahead of their potential battle in the court of law. Boxing great Claressa Shields weighed in and disapproved of Ekaterina's actions. Responding to the aforementioned tweet featuring footage of her celebrations, Shields tweeted:
"This some evil sh** here"
A closer look at Ekaterina Bivol's allegations against Dmitry Bivol
Speaking to Russian media outlet Postsen in 2023, Ekaterina Bivol initially suggested that there was no specific reason behind their divorce, adding that they'd been living separately for many months before it. Nevertheless, in October 2023, Ekaterina levied serious allegations of domestic violence against Dmitry Bivol.
The Russian journalist and influencer posted photographs of the injuries she'd allegedly suffered at Dmitry's hands. Moreover, Ekaterina indicated that Dmitry's mother was complicit in the purported psychological and physical abuse against her. She also claimed Dmitry coerced her to get an abortion.
Furthermore, Ekaterina recalled that Dmitry told her father she hit herself. She asserted that her own father prevented her from approaching the police after the alleged abuse. She implied that her children witnessed the violence. She also underscored that Dmitry has abandoned their two sons, Miron and Nikon, and pays merely $1,100 monthly in child support.
Presently, many in the boxing community are adamant that Dmitry Bivol did enough to outpoint Artur Beterbiev and surely deserves a rematch. Meanwhile, Ekaterina Bivol maintains that she'll face Dmitry in court.
