Sean O'Malley was the latest entrant to offer his take on UFC president Dana White's new venture, Power Slap League. O'Malley perceives the format of having a bunch of unregulated competitors under one roof as a formula for disaster.

The Power Slap League is administered by White, Lorenzo Fertitta, UFC Chief Operating Officer Lawrence Epstein, and The Ultimate Fighter series producer Craig Piltigian. Schiaffo LLC, a limited liability company based in Nevada, is the company that introduced the concept to the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Weighing in on White's latest project on his YouTube channel, Sean O'Malley said:

"Dude, literally this is a recipe for disaster/ entertainment. I'm going to get sixteen guys that slap each other in the face that want to become famous, that want to become popular, put them in a f****ng house, a pretty nice house, give them free alcohol, free food and you can't do anything for six weeks. That's f**ked."

The No.1-ranked UFC bantamweight added:

"It looks like The Ultimate Fighter but you don't have to make weight, you don't have to be in shape, and you can get f***ed up and go perform."

According to UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell, the Power Slap League will feature medical standards, weight classifications, and matchmaking similar to MMA. He stressed that there will be regulated weight classes, mouthguards, earplugs for competitors, and penalties for fouls.

Sean O'Malley shuts down comparisons with Paddy Pimblett

Sean O'Malley has distinguished himself as one of the most promising prospects to emerge from Dana White's Contender Series. With his victory over former 135-pound champion Petr Yan, the rising bantamweight fighter ascended to the top of the UFC bantamweight rankings, occupying the No.1 spot.

However, O'Malley is exhausted by comparisons between his career trajectory and that of another rising contender, Paddy Pimblett. Heavy comparisons were made between Pimblett's controversial decision victory over Jared Gordon at UFC 282 and 'Sugar's somewhat controversial victory over Yan earlier this year.

Addressing the comparisons on his podcast, Sean O'Malley said:

“I fought Petr Yan. I fought the No.1 killer. Jared Gordon is good, and he proved that he’s good, but it’s not even in the same conversation. I’m curious if you rewatch back Paddy vs. Gordon if you see it the same way. Joe Rogan said it even, he said, ‘I rewatched [O’Malley vs Yan], I sat down and rewatched it, and you did win round one and three.’ This, I’m curious if you sit back down and pay attention to it, do you give [the victory to Pimblett]?”

The video has since been deleted from his YouTube channel.
