The sporting world was shocked when a video of UFC president Dana White slapping his wife went viral. While on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the couple got into a physical altercation, which was caught on camera.

White and his wife, Anne, can be seen in the VIP area of the club in the footage uploaded by TMZ. The video shows the couple bickering before Anne slaps her husband across the face. They are swiftly separated when White hits her back.

According to bystanders, the couple appeared to be quite intoxicated, and the scenario escalated rapidly without any buildup.

Anne White claimed in a statement released to TMZ that White's violent behavior was uncharacteristic of him and that it was the first time the couple flew into a rage of this magnitude:

"Dana and I have been married for almost 30 years. To say this is out of character for him is an understatement. Nothing like this has ever happened before. Unfortunately, we were both drinking too much on New Year's Eve and things got out of control, on both sides. We've talked this through as a family and apologized to each other. I just hope people will respect our privacy for the sake of our kids."

MMA fans mercilessly mock Dana White for slapping his wife by using Power Slap League references

We are just three days into the new year, and Dana White is already grabbing headlines for slapping his wife during a heated altercation. The incident occurred at a club in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. In an interview, White stated that he accepts responsibility for his role in the incident.

TMZ reported that witnesses have told the outlet that Anna White slapped the UFC president and that White retaliated by slapping her before the two were separated.

Ironically, the event occurred only a few months after White revealed that his new venture, the Power Slap League, had received regulatory approval from the Nevada Athletic Commission in October. The UFC president will not oversee the day-to-day operations of his new venture, but he has stated that there will be identical medical testing and drug testing as in the UFC.

Needless to say, merciless fans jumped on the opportunity to troll White with references to his latest venture. One user wrote:

"Dana White is taking this Power Slap promotion way too seriously."

Another fan wrote:

"Dana White promoting his Power Slap League. What a businessman!"

Yet another fan created an artwork for the poster of Power Slap League:

"Dana’s Power Slap League."
