Three days into the new year, Dana White is already in the news for all the wrong reasons. On New Year's Eve, while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the UFC president and his wife were captured on camera engaging in a physical altercation.

In a video released by TMZ on Monday, White is seen engaging in a heated argument with his wife while visibly intoxicated. Anne White made things worse when she slapped her husband across the face. As the argument continued, White responded by slapping his wife in the face, but other members of the group intervened. Both White and his wife have issued statements claiming that they have reconciled and requesting privacy to deal with the situation.

Shockingly, the Managing Editor of Pro Football Talk, Michael David Smith, pointed out that several "toxic" MMA fans are advocating pro-domestic violence, which has led to several Reddit threads being locked:

"The UFC has so many toxic fans that within minutes of the Dana White domestic violence video coming out, the MMA section on Reddit had to disallow comments about it because scores of UFC fans were posting about how actually it's OK for men to hit women."

Upon thorough exploration of the matter, several comments have been found on various social media platforms that appear to side with Dana White. A number of Twitter users responded to the TMZ post with humorous and pro-domestic violence-supporting remarks.

Under the comments section of White's apology, one fan wrote:

"So she assaults him directly in the face with a whipping slap and he distinctively reacts and "slaps" back to deter her and protect himself and now he gets criticised for reacting and is seen as the person who is most at fault. The world we live in."

Another fan wrote:

"She hit him first. What he did to her was like slap on the wrist saying STOP it."

Dana White's wife releases statement following physical altercation incident

UFC President Dana White and his wife both issued public apologies for a physical altercation caught on video during their New Year's Eve celebrations in Cabo, Mexico.

The TMZ-published video depicts White and his wife, Anne, in the VIP section of a nightclub. In the video, White can be seen arguing with his wife, at which point she slaps him on the face. White slaps her back before the two are quickly separated.

Anne White stated in a separate statement to TMZ that this was the first time that tensions flared to this degree:

"Dana and I have been married for almost 30 years. To say this is out of character for him is an understatement. Nothing like this has ever happened before. Unfortunately, we were both drinking too much on New Year's Eve and things got out of control, on both sides. We've talked this through as a family and apologized to each other. I just hope people will respect our privacy for the sake of our kids."
