Daniel Cormier weighed in on how Jon Jones matches up with Stipe Miocic and what a dominant win over the former champion could mean for the reigning UFC heavyweight champion.

Cormier uploaded a video to his YouTube channel, where he spoke about Jones vs. Miocic, which appears to be set for UFC 290 in July. He mentioned that it could be a scary thought for the rest of the heavyweight division should 'Bones' replicate his performance from UFC 285.

He said:

"Jon Jones' debut was as good as it gets guys. For him, his teams, and the UFC...But let me pose this question to you, say [Jon] Jones does what he promises again, dominates Stipe [Miocic], then the question becomes who could challenge him in the heavyweight division? It's a scary thought." [5:07 - 5:32]

'DC' also touched on their mindset heading into their upcoming heavyweight clash. He mentioned that there aren't any unknowns anymore as Jones experienced what it was like competing at heavyweight and Miocic saw what the champion is capable of, saying:

"Jones has an ability on the ground that a lot of heavyweights maybe haven't seen before. Ciryl [Gane] looked shocked. Stipe Miocic will not be shocked when he's locked in the octagon with Jon Jones. But Jon Jones will not be shocked fighting the greatest heavyweight of all time, at least in most people's opinions." [4:44 - 5:05]

It will be interesting to see how Jones fares against Miocic and whether Cormier will change his stance on not labeling him the greatest fighter of all time, should he retain his heavyweight title against the most successful heavyweight champion in UFC history.

Daniel Cormier believes it's still wrong to call Jon Jones the GOAT due to past transgressions

Despite being impressed by Jon Jones' performance at UFC 285, Daniel Cormier believes that it's still wrong to call him the greatest of all time due to his past transgressions.

During a recent episode of ESPN's DC & RC show, 'DC' spoke about Jones' status in the sport and whether he deserves the greatest of all time label. He mentioned that even though 'Bones' makes a strong argument with his accomplishments, his USADA violations should be taken into consideration.

He said:

"I think especially with the drugs and the steroid failures and those types of things. I think when you have those things, it's hard to call you the greatest of all time. And I know Anderson [Silva] and all those guys, but I think [Jones] is in the conversation because he's become a heavyweight champion and now he's won belts in two weight classes."

Perhaps if Jones can retain his heavyweight championship against Stipe Miocic decisively, 'DC' might change his stance on the ongoing debate among fighters and fans in the MMA community.
