Danny Kingad believes managing distance is key to victory for Demetrious Johnson against Adriano Moraes

Team Lakay’s Danny Kingad sees the distance game of reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Demetrious Johnson continuing to play a key role in his trilogy match against rival Adriano Moraes later this year.

In an interview with The MMA Superfan, Danny Kingad said if Johnson manages to replicate what he did in his previous fight with Moraes, the better his chances of retaining his world title in their rematch on May 5 in the United States.

Danny Kingad said:

“He has to do what he did in their previous fight, that’s one of the things that would push him to victory in their third fight. He’s always darting in and out and surprising Adriano until Adriano loses his focus. If he does that, then he’ll get the win.”

Johnson seized the flyweight world title from Moraes via a fourth-round stoppage at ONE on Prime Video 1 last August.

Throughout the contest, 'Mighty Mouse' gave “'Mikinho' varied looks, including fast in-and-out movements of punches and elbows, that kept Moraes guessing and on the defensive most of the time.

The win also earned redemption for Johnson after losing in their first clash in April 2021 while setting the stage for the rubber match this May at the landmark show ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

No. 3 flyweight contender Danny Kingad will be closely following the outcome of the trilogy fight as he could be the next opponent for the eventual winner.

However, before that happens, Danny Kingad is set to witness the action at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video on February 24 in Bangkok, Thailand.

“The King” will battle Indonesian Eko Roni Saputra in the event happening at the famed Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, which will be broadcast live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.

Danny Kingad isn’t sure Fabricio Andrade can replicate the same success against John Lineker in rematch

While busy preparing for his upcoming fight at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video later this month, Filipino fighter Danny Kingad is still keeping tabs on the goings-on in the lead-up to the event.

Among 'The King' is interested in is the headlining rematch between Brazilians Fabricio Andrade and John Lineker for the vacant ONE bantamweight world title.

In an interview with The MMA Superfan, Danny Kingad shared his thoughts on the world title fight, including how he does not see Andrade dominating the contest like in the first encounter.

He said:

"I don’t really know if Fabricio Andrade will be as dominant as he was in the first fight against John Lineker… I think this second fight is going to be different, because this time, Lineker has prepared better.”

Andrade pummeled Lineker and was in the inside track to win the vacant bantamweight world title in their first showdown in October last year until an accidental groin strike in the third round by Andrade forced the fight to be ruled a no-contest.

The two will now settle the matter at ONE Fight Night 7 on February 24 in Bangkok.

Kingad is also featured in the event, fighting Indonesian Eko Roni Saputra in a flyweight joust.

‘The King’ is currently deep in training with Team Lakay in the mountainous city of Baguio in the Philippines, and recently had the chance to train with Japanese legend Shinya Aoki, who visited their gym.
