Sought-after free agent Darren Till is open to parlaying his Muay Thai skills in ONE Championship.

‘The Gorilla’, fighting out of Liverpool, England, made this known in a recent interview on Chamatkar Sandhu’s Smack Talk with Sandhu show.

Darren Till shared that, as one of the top fight organizations in the world right now, ONE Championship is a viable option for him moving forward. He was quick to say, though, that he would only compete in Muay Thai and not in mixed martial arts, where he has been a fixture in the last decade.

He said:

“Well, I think you just mentioned Muay Thai. I think there’s big grass for it in ONE Championship in Singapore. I think outside the UFC, ONE Championship could be the biggest organization in the world because the Singapore market you know it’s huge … So that could be one option. You know, a few Thai fights, me bread and butter stuff like that.”

Darren Till spent the last eight years competing in MMA in the UFC before asking for his release last month to explore other opportunities.

In the UFC, ‘The Gorilla’ competed in the welterweight and middleweight divisions. At welterweight, he also vied for the world title against then-world champion Tyron Woodley in 2018.

Apart from MMA, Darren Till has also dipped his hand in Muay Thai.

In the event the British fighter lands in ONE Championship, he will find the environment conducive as the promotion has been active in pushing Muay Thai on a weekly basis.

It launched earlier this year the ONE Friday Fights series, which features top Muay Thai fighters from different parts of the world. The company is also planning to hold an Openweight Muay Thai Grand Prix later this year, which will offer a $1 million top prize for the winner.

Muay Thai will also be spotlighted in ONE’s first-ever live on-ground event in the United States on May 5 at ONE Fight Night on Prime Video. The event will be aired live and for free to all North American fans with an active Prime Video subscription.
