Drew Dober enjoyed his fight against Bobby Green at UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs. Strickland, which saw him earn a second-round knockout win and a Fight of the Night bonus.

Dober joined Ariel Helwani on today's episode of The MMA Hour. He reflected on his win against Green and mentioned a hilarious exchange between the two after his attempt at trash tralking, saying:

"The first round happened as I expected it. Man, he is super hard to hit and he's really fast. And the trash talking and the way he moves his head, man, he is definitely a unique specimen to deal with...My favorite part was when I tried to talk back to him and he told me to shut up and hit me with a two-piece."

The 34-year-old also mentioned that he isn't much of a trash talker but he attempted it during the fight as he felt it was entertaining and got lost in the moment. He even poked fun at himself for his trash-talking efforts during the fight, saying:

"I put forth my best effort to recipricate and no man, he shut that up real quick...I'm not much of a talker, I'm more of an actions type of person but man, kind of just drawed out some entertainment out of me and I wanted to give it a shot and man, it didn't come off well. I feel like me trying to trash talk is like giving your ten-year-old permission to cuss...like it doesn't come out fluidly."

Based on how his trash-talking came off, Dober will likely try to avoid talking in his next fight unless it's a situation that makes sense for him to do so.

Drew Dober had a strong year in 2022

2022 was a very strong year for Drew Dober in the UFC lightweight division. He fought three times and won each fight KO/TKO. It was a milestone night when he knocked out Bobby Green as he tied Dustin Poirier with the most knockout wins in the UFC lightweight division.

The 34-year-old managed to bounce back from his performances in 2021, which saw him lose a unanimous decision against Brad Riddell and submitted by current UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. His tenure in the promotion was possibly even in doubt as a third straight loss for a fighter that's not ranked could have resulted in him being cut from the promotion.

Dober bouncing back from back-to-back losses and closing out 2022 with three straight wins sets him up nicely for bigger fights at 155lbs.
