It was an entertaining bout that earned both fighters a post-fight bonus for Fight of the Night.Despite getting a win in his most recent bout, 'The Diamond' receiving a lightweight title shot in his next fight is unlikely. The division is stacked and there are other deserving fighters with longer winning streaks who have yet to receive a title shot.Reigning featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski is scheduled to challenge Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title next Saturday at UFC 284, so the outcome will provide a better idea for the promotion as to who receives the next title shot and when.It will be interesting to see who the UFC match Poirier up against next and whether it will serve as a title eliminator.
