UFC featherweight contender Austin Lingo has shed light on the drastic change in the level of competition upon his arrival at the UFC.

Lingo recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Andrew Whitelaw for Sportskeeda MMA. During his appearance, 'Time Out' touched upon various topics like his training Muay Thai in Thailand, his future plans, and his thoughts on Alexander Volkanovski vs. Islam Makhachev.

While discussing his move from LFA to UFC, Lingo was asked whether he experienced a change in the fighting caliber of his opponents during his run in the UFC. The 28-year-old replied in the affirmative that he went through that in his last UFC outing.

"Definitely, definitely. [Luis] Saldana showed me that with the tricks and all that spinning elbows and yeah, he definitely showed me a lot of that. And I was like, 'Man this a new level.' So, I've been prepping for this next fight like crazy and I know the level I gotta be at. So, I'm definitely there though," said Austin Lingo.

Lingo is currently 9-1 in his MMA career. 'Lights Out' has had three fights in the UFC and has been victorious in two of them. Prior to his UFC stint, the 28-year-old has six fights in LFA. Lingo won all six of those encounters, with four of the wins coming via finishes.

Austin Lingo will return to action on March 11

Austin Lingo will have his fourth UFC outing on March 11 as he will take on Ricardo Ramos in a featherweight contest at UFC Fight Night 221. The event will take place at The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Paradise, Nevada. The card will be headlined by a five-round bantamweight scrap between Merab Dvalishvili and former 135-pound king Petr Yan.

In his exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Lingo spoke about his preparations for the upcoming fight and said he intended to keep the fight on the feet, and if an opportunity for a knockout victory presents itself during the fight, he would take it.

"I'm trying to keep it standing and you know, if the knockout's there, if he falls, he falls. But I'm gonna be throwing hands, you know."
