MMA Twitter had mixed reactions to Conor McGregor labeling himself the greatest of all time.

As McGregor prepares for his Octagon return, the former two-division UFC champion has decided to make a change. ‘The Notorious’ has been sporting a clean-shaved look, which might be coming to an end. The 34-year-old had this to say on Twitter:

“I’ve decided to grow a goatee cos I’m the f**kin goat.”

Fans weren’t as concerned about McGregor’s facial hair change compared to the comment about being the GOAT. They were split between supporting the MMA legend and spreading hate for his recent losses, including some saying:

“Ya gotta fight and win to be considered the GOAT. Two things you stopped doing."
“Keep speaking truth, no matter how brief the interaction."
“Win a fight then"
“You could give Jon Jones a run for it if you can come back to make a legendary run and capture the 170 title… but that would take about 4-5 dominant wins. Do you have a 5 fight win streak in you?"
“Dude you haven't won a fight since 2016 lol"
“You are the biggest show man in the sport but you are not even the top 10 of the goats!"
“Conor spitting facts"
“That’s the energy we need my man"
“The double champ does what he wants"
“As you should"

McGregor’s last was a rubber match against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. ‘The Notorious’ suffered a gruesome leg injury, ending the fight and sparking a long recovery process. He has fully recovered and plans to fight again by the end of the year.

When is Conor McGregor fighting next?

Conor McGregor decided to coach The Ultimate Fighter Season 31, with Michael Chandler being his opposition. Once the season is finished airing, ‘The Notorious’ and Chandler are expected to meet in a highly-anticipated bout at welterweight. The date is yet to be finalized, because one thing stands in the way of McGregor’s Octagon return.

Before fighting in the UFC again, Conor McGregor needs to be approved by USADA. The former two-division champion was hoping to get an exemption from the mandatory six months of drug testing, but the anti-doping agency has stayed firm on its policy. ‘The Notorious’ has yet to rejoin the USADA testing pool.
